Excellent videos Mark. Quite simply the best on forum right now. That Ferrari video was definitely super!

Awesome vid!!!

The thing nowadays is that with a supercharger kit, an ///M3 can easily embarrass supercars... I've smoked V10 R8 manuals, 458 Italias, Gallardos etc.

I actually had a hard time keeping up with him in the earlier sessions because he'd pull away in the straights, but I was definitely faster in the corners. And he would lift super early through turn 1 (which you can see after I pass him). I had lots of fun yesterday aside from traffic and people not giving point by's. Maybe soon I can graduate to open passing.

Nice video. Nice Driving! - nice set up!
What tires are you running?

Thanks. I've been running AD08's. Not sure if I'm going to make another track day on them so I have R888's going on tomorrow.

whats your alignment like. i cant keep the edges from wearing off on my ad08s even with 2.5 front and 2.0 rear. NT01s seem to roll over less. maybe because the advans are so square.

2.4 in the front, 1.5 rear. Yea my outsides are worn flat from the track and my insides are worn flat from the street. Middle looks new.

okay im 2.5 front and 1.9 rear and i flipped mine on the rim once. inside and outside gone from the track and the middle is new. my nt01s seem to be wearing more evenly across with same alignment? was thinking of going 3.0 and 2.3ish.

Dig the lightening-quick heel-n-toe/throttle-blip's, OP. Very enjoyable to watch!

Report back on the R888. I disliked them so much I took them off after only one day.

Will do. I heard a lot of negative about the cup tires around here too, but really liked those tires. After these ill try the nt01's.

Great driving, though the corner right after the pass looked a little "interesting". What was the car you came up on right at the end of the vid, was that a radical? Based on the ferrari driver's vid, his driving seemed like it wasn't quite as good (particularly if he's an instructor). He seemed to be hitting a lot more curbing (almost looking like 2 wheels off at times) than I'd think would be good for the car.

Yea after watching his video, I could tell he wasn't driving hard at all. He was off the throttle before he hit turn 1 and basically just coasted down. I was having a hard time keeping up with him earlier in the day so he was probably just taking the recorded session easy.

Running over the blue/white curbing = good (using all the track)

Running over the red blocks = VERY BAD (bent wheel or worse)

I know your probably kidding a little, but even that first statement is a bit controversial, if taken to the extreme of doing it every corner, like the Ferrari driver seems to be doing (at least in the bit I watched). Most tracks have a few corners that you consistently want to hit the curbing a little (typically slower corners), but there's typically not a lot to be gained by trying to get those last few inches in every corner vs the risk of spinning if the curbing has dirt or is a little wet or has fluids dropped there (at least for HPDEs, racing is of course different), since it's a dramatically different friction coefficient vs the track. Then of course there's the risk of missing your target curbing point by a few inches and hitting the big curb or going two off.

I went back and rewatched some of the video to confirm my impression, and still think he's doing more than "using all the track". Regardless of whether he was taking it easy or whatever, his driving seems a little sloppy once he's behind you, but maybe that's just his driving style. I only point this out because these forums attract a fair share of new drivers, and it's easy to pick up that "use every inch of track" sentiment, then find they have no margin left when something goes wrong.

Oh, and I still haven't gotten my question answered. What the heck was that open air vehicle the two of you ran down close to the end? Looks like an interesting vehicle to be on the track in.

A bit OT, but do you leave your mics on the whole day at the track? or turn on/off every session? Just wondering how long the batteries last on it. I just got a couple to put in different spots, and I'm curious.

I'm not sure to be honest. It was a lotus club event and I saw like 4 of those cars that day (the other ones were in the advanced (open) group).

I turn mine off after each session with my cameras. I have no idea how long the batteries last. Since there's no indicator light on it either, I'm a little worried.

Fantastic videos and editing. Laguna looks like such a fun track. Awesome driving and looking forward to more videos.
