Oh, I'm very aware that this is a stupid question. But I asked anyways.

In a way the 6MT is cooler, but I am using this thing as my daily driver...I'm worried that I'll hate it maybe 6 to 12 months down the line. I figured this kind of switch would be insanely expensive.

I be pretend german for you, "Ya das iz impossible!!!" By the way this is one of the dumbest threads in recent memory. Why would you take your rather high end sports coupe and make it absolutely worthless. Order a DCT, since the idea of pushing a clutch in with your foot and having the ability to time that with the movement of your right hand is so terrifying.

i actually feel kinda bad for this guy. When I used to work at a dealership, I used to get asked if it was possible to add idrive to a non-idrive equipped car.

He is just one of those guys that does not think the issue out himself to see the roadblocks, but instead asks someone else so his brain doesn't have to be bothered by cognitive thought.

You can do it. But cars are not Lego toys anymore were one can just swap out a part and everything works the same. The cluster needs to be changed (u will need readout of what gear you are in), the steering wheel comes off (need paddles now), you will need a new ECU (duh), new driveshaft, new final drive, software programming... get the picture?

Yeeesh, don't get a DCT either, you are going to give us DCT drivers a bad name!

No, that's what you get for not reading the whole thread.

I commuted a Z4m 6MT through Washington DC rush hour traffic for over a year. Put 40k on that car actually... Modulation of the clutch was not bad in stop and go, I did have a cramp or 2 every now and then, when I got the M3 I opted for the 6MT... I figured the more manual non-computer controlled stuff I have, the less prone for failures.

and yet he orders one?

I think its a valid question. I´m sure it is possible but expensive.

Its possible to make my M3 mid-engined right?

I'm starting to feel bad for the OP, something tells me he won't be responding anymore.

Well actually there is such a thing as Front Mid engine Rear (FMR) layout.
As long as the engine is behind the front axles. Kinda like the Z8.

Damn, why didn't I think of that?! I was hoping to have the most immature and asinine response, and you go and blow me out of the water!

Well played sir!
