My passenger one is perfect; driver is 1/16" off since day 1, but yours is a whopping 1/2" off, or 8 times as bad as mine. Somebody hit your mirror, bending the shaft where it rotates to fold inward. I'd consider mine the limit of acceptable. Take it in, and tell your freaking dealer you just noticed it, and it wasn't like that before the service. Geez. What I HATE is techs messing up cars and not being men enough to admit it, usually leaving owners without warranty coverage because damage wasn't noticed before leaving dealership (blaming owners for damage).

Sorry for bringing this post back from the dead but I just noticed this as well on the driver's side.
The mirror in NO WAY has been hit as far as I can tell. No scrapes, dents, dings, etc. Did those who had this happen get it covered under warranty? Mine is slightly more off than those above. Thanks!

Test drove a used e90 m3 yesterday, and the driver side mirror looked about the same as the first pic above.
Is this a hard fix for the dealer? Do they just realign it, or is an entire new housing needed? |

I had this issue on driver's mirror as well. The entire mirror housing was replaced under warranty.

Mine is the same, I've noticed other M3s with the same problem so I left it alone.

Fold mirror by hand halfway and then push the automatic folding button. It will go through the cycle and make a loud "CRACK" sound as it resets on whatever plastic gear it's supposed to run on. Push the button again to open the mirrors. Problem fixed.
