Advice on this m3
Thinking about buying this m3 that I found with less than 10k miles but the guy used it as a track car for 50% of the time. Would you worry about very very premature issues in long run? Also it's got a lowered suspension how much harder is that make it as a daily driver?
Thanx for all the bad, good and irrelevant replies. |

A car thats tracked is going to have more wear so yes I would opt for a car that was tracked less or not at all. |

True if it was tracked for 20k miles. I'm just wondering how much stress it can Put on the car if its only been tracked for like 3.5k miles

Too many good examples out there to buy a questionable car... That is just my opinion...
On the other hand, track guys normally take better care of their cars than "i wear my sunglasses at night" M3 owners, so...

If the price is too good to pass up, may not be so bad. If you feel the peace of mind is worth a few extra $K, go elsewhere.

With so many E9X M3 available still, why not find one that was well cared for and not tracked? Think about it...

If you ask me I would not ... the internal engine parts just have seem more wear and tear IMHO ... therefore I would keep on searching for the right one ...

Personally, I see track mileage like dog years. There are so many clean examples out there. If you're having doubts with it being tracked or with lowered suspension, you should look elsewhere.

Yes.
For me the search included all of continental US. If it really is your only option, id get it looked at before purchase by a good indy. Pay them a couple hours of labor. As to lowering, it is not my taste but im not sure how you can tell without driving that car.

So as far as a person who tracks their vehicle... I can say that I take care of mine a lot. Tracked or not the m3 still has its certain maintenance intervals. It only has 10,000 miles on it and if it was broken in correctly you should not have any worries.
Warranty is the key here also... try it out and have a PPI done. Someone who does not track their vehicle will most likely be more out to say not to do it...unfortunately alot of m3 owners got them to be cool in and not drive on the track.

Am I missing something. ! Most of local enthusiasts track their car but spend tons of money on top of the line parts for dual purpose. The m3 engine and tranny are fully capable of supporting additional track related stress so why is that a negative thing? You should be great full for the honesty because most of sellers that have tracked their car won't come clean because of this stereotype.

I agree, if the guy was honest enough to let you know he tracked it... all you have to do is get a PPI done, which is what anyone should do.
