Not worth it, think you should move onto another car. It's time.

That's a tough call - it's tough to pony up and go through all the hassle of buying a new car to only upgrade to the same model. With that said, there's nothing else on the market I want right now that's shy of $100K, so the '13 M3 was the choice for me. Also, if there's some other options you'd spec this time, it might feel totally new but familiar to you. They did make a few changes/tweaks to software, LCI, Nav, air box, etc. though I'm not sure if your car already has those...

How much do you love your '09? LIKE it or LOVE it?

For the money, no, not for an 09.

But from an intangible point of view, it would depend on you and what a '13 would do for you.

I'm keeping this car forever I would only trade for another m3 I guess changing for just a newer year makes no sense. Only new thing is the larger air box never knew that. Besides that it's spced out by me I got it in Germany so guess I just answerd my own question. Just pay it off garage it and get something else. Still interested in that larger air box is it the filter or the while thing that's bigger

You ARE trying to figure out how you'll feel in 2017 ,which is really tough. I would do it if you drive < 12,000 per year as even driving it every day ( which IMO is the REASON to keep it forever) you would have it thru 2025 or so!

The ultimate would be keep the 2009 and drive it till it dies while storing a new 2013! That should take you to 2032 .

logically this is not the way to go unless you want an individual m3 and have kool ca$h to burn. the competetion pkg is nice and the lime rock edition is kool too.

just wait for the new m3/m4, i am pretty sure you will want that. :-)

My 09 E90 is going to be 4 years in Feb. Looking back it has been relatively trouble free and immensely enjoyable. Going 30k-40k in the red for the sake of upgrading to essentially the same car does not make too much sense to me. The expected maintenance cost I believe is nowhere near that over the next 4 years. Of course an engine can blow or my DCT may become toast out of warranty, but this is a low risk given the car's history.

I have pretty much decided to drive this car to its eventual death (along with my MCS). It is that good! I will take a look at the M4/M3 once it is out to determine whether its worth having in addition to the V8 M3.
