Function and form for me. I prefer the looks of the CF roof and it's lighter. Honestly, I don't know if I'd notice a difference since I haven't spent time behind the wheel of an e93. I'm just glad that the M3 I find the most appealing visually is also the better performer on paper...made my decision real easy.

You can definitely feel the extra weight compared to the coupe but that wasn't a factor for me as I was perfectly happy with the performance and wanted a convertible. If I want to drive an all out performance car I have several to choose from.

Cracking your "1nicestable" login was actually quite simple....a very nice selection of horses indeed.

Chisos Mountains were amazing. I hiked part of the Window Trail -- first almost stepping on a rabbit, then walking within five feet of a white-tailed deer, and then coming within 18" of a rattlesnake. That last brush with natural wildlife pretty much signaled the end of the hike, as it was stubborn that even tossing a few rocks over to it wouldn't make it give up it's spot on the trail. Oh, yes, for people that don't know... Texas does in fact have mountains... several over 5,000 ft elevation, some in the 6,000 ft. (It is merely a few million miles south of BFE.) .

I carried 3 passengers and the car performed like it was a 6MT. MT e9x drivers should refrain from commenting about compromised performance. |

Performance on paper wasn't a consideration for me since the roads in my area are for the most part paved with asphalt.

When I was looking into M3's ... I never really looked into convertibles ... Nothing against convertibles personally but in my opinion the coupe looked more sharper and better and more like an "m3" ... I've parked beside e93 m3's many times just to actually stand back and compare the two and I am very happy with my decision in going for the coupe. I got into an accident last year and totalled my M3 3 months after getting it and I could've looked into convertibles as a replacement but I went with the coupe, again.
Call me weird but I prefer the CONVERTIBLE when it comes to 328i / 335i ... It gives it a really sleek and sharp touch. I just don't like it on the m3 ... maybe something to do with the wide fenders? I really don't know ... but this is just my opinion / $0.02. |

The E90/2 is well into to the 12-second 1/4 mile range with a 6MT or DCT... an E93 is markedly slower than an E90/2 with either gearbox combination. Accept reality that the performance envelope of the cab is a degree lower than the fixed roof alternatives. I've accepted that I can't drop the top on my sedan. The numbers don't lie and if you are looking for every last ounce of performance (I wasn't) the E93 is not the way to go,

I chose the convertible because I liked the look of the antenna on the trunk rather than on the roof.

I generally dislike the design of any 4-seater convertible. The windshield location relative to the body is just too far forward to make it an aesthetically appealing design (with the top down, obviously). Most two seater convertibles are pretty nice looking.
