Would i get CEL or any error code with drop-in cone air filter?

hey guys,

i have access to a transition air intake pipe + a 4" K&N filter.

If i open the OEM air intake lid, put in my transition pipe + Cone filter, would i get any errors or CEL?

is any programming needed upon installing the drop-in filter and no lid?

like this kinda setup: after install, no need to put the lid cover back on (i've seen a bunch of folks just not use the lid anymore after this kinda install setup?

No CEL. But you should put the air filter cover back on.. Why would you want to leave it open?

I ran a similar aFE setup with both of their filter media - oiled and dry - cone filters. No CEL due to the change, doubt you will. Running with the cover will drop your intake temps which is important in all months but especially the summer. I'm back to factory air box now but only after supercharging. I miss that cone filter pitched growl, about the only drawback.

Seems silly, you're gonna be sucking hot air from under the hood as opposed to the cooler external air that the sealed setup brings in with the lid attached. Less power in essence.

To answer your question, it should not throw a CEL.

Cant see the rationale for leaving off other than a small amount of additional sound or poppin the hood while parkin lot pimpin, "look at my cone filter suckas"...
