I know I've cracked a couple of jokes about this, but I'd seriously love to enter this competition and represent our forum as well. I've held SCCA regional, national, and pro licenses over the past seven years (currently not racing due to family commitments), and have held a NASA competition license for several years. All my road racing was in Spec Miata (one of the nations most competitive classes) and of 41 races entered, I've won 9 of them, and placed 2nd or 3rd in the majority of the rest. I have only one DNF, due to mechanical failure (throttle linkeage popped off). I love racing and feel comfortable and competent behind the wheel. I have also instructed high-performacne driving for a few organizations since 2001 at several tracks east of the Mississippi, and still do so to this day.
Somewhere at the Discovery network headquaters is video of me on track with a reknowned transplant surgeon who likes to take his lotus Elise to the track (I was the "chase" car). Somewhere on this forum is video of me catching a modified R8 in my stock E92 M3 @ VIR. Anyway, if you guys feel I am a match, I would need to drive another person's car. The problem is, I can't drive my car out there in a rasonable timeframe since I live in Pittsburgh, PA. Why does the west coast get to have all the fun? Let me know what you guys think if you can't get anybody else to do it. Thanks!

Looks like we have the two seasoned licensed track racers now available for driving:
Kingleh M3V8Driver Now the two M3s need to be decided to be taken to the showdown (modded or stock??). I would say one coupe and one sedan.

That sounds awesome. Very excited. A supercharged sedan and a RDSport stroked coupe M3 will be the killer combination. A good statement that whether FI or N/A and with seasoned race car drivers, M3 kicks everyone's a** all around.

The 1/8th mile is not the best way to compare straight line performance, 1/4 mile would be better, regardless should still be fun and interesting, looking forward to it. Major props to Robert and Brain for volunteering their cars.

Drive your own car then, I wouldn't mind doing the 1/8th mile run.

I'm sure the producers will have better cameras than the go pro (no offense). The trick is to get all the footage from them afterwards.

If Niterider is entering and driving his own car, that leaves one car and two? drivers? Does the show limit forum entrants to two? I keep meaning to keep the link with the info alive...

You can borrow my trailer (if you don't already have one) and track wheels if you decide to haul your car!

Ok.. so lets see what the final rules are for the cars.. but i'm sure there is a car on the forum that is on the threshold...
Quote:
what is your tire setup? and do you have EDC? If I can get a confirmed date.. I can prob make it... Also if its just 1/8th the launch manage of power will be more important then the top end.. Your car should be able to run a 7.5 if the track is prepped well... I did a 7.8 in my car with a filter and muffler... A 7.5 might not win but it will be fairly close....

Meh this would have been cool but that track is too small imo. They should take this event to Willowsprings the "big" track that would be way better and maybe have a pro driver for anyone that wants a pro to drive I personally know one that used to race DP cars in the rolex series if that helps. Also I dont get why there wont be spectators allowed that makes this whole event lame imo.

Mainly joking although you are welcome to use the wheels/tires if you can get them over there. It sounds like there might be two strokers availiable, so you can probably drive one of them. And if they will simply time laps, I don't see why they wouldn't allow more than one driver per car, but I guess that is up to the owners of the cars.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Why do you have a link to a Plasma TV advert??
Anyway, sticky has taken one of the M3 spot (yes, he kicks a** in drag racing). A supercharged or stroker M3 has to get on there quick to take the second spot. Quote:
