Update on new Schroth Harnesses

Seatbelt receptacles are a perfect fit. Based on this informal test, I am satisfied it will fit - now it may not have a lot of adjustment left, but it seems to fit my frame ok.

Installation sometime over the weekend - will post pics of course.

Total success. First drive just blew me away, I can't wait to go on track...

Installation time was about 20 min or so, it's all extremely easy. I used another poster's instructions for the outer bolts (thanks bigjae1976!) and encountered absolutely no problem at all.

1. No need for seat removal, bolt comes right out
2, 3. Bending the tab to avoid contact with the seat bolster.
4. Rear bracket install. A note here: the Schroth-supplied bolt was too big (diameter) so I reused the OEM bolt. Schroth supplied a spacer which might be needed to clear the MINI seats, but was totally unnecessary in the E90.
5. Minimal peeking from the back seat.
6. Straps connected to the back.
7. Fits perfectly and there's plenty of adjustment left in the straps.

Needless to say, Schroth puts a label on the harness warning you that you might die if you install this in something other than a MINI R55, 56 or 57 so if you decide to follow my example, it's all on you.

Over on my side, I'm deliriously happy with the result. I'll post more pics and impressions on how it holds up after my track event Mon/Tue at VIR.

I didn't go with the Pro because I don't think I'll be running a Hans device in my street car, and if I go with a track car it will probably be something very different than an E90 M3...

If you're asking about the MINI, it's for the R55, 56 or 57 which is the 07+ Coopers if not mistaken.

Well, take a look on the HMS site and compare your floor anchor point to the one on the MINI in the PDF instructions. Earlier MINI models have a sliding bar at the bottom similar to the BMW coupes - if yours is similar, you might be in luck.

Either way, a vendor like HMS will allow returns for uninstalled merchandise (by that I mean just draped over the seats to check initial fit, clearances etc.

If it looks like I am advertising for this vendor, this is not my intention. They were nice to me with great service, but you can probably source this harness in any other number of places.

If you do, before you start the actuall installation, remove the floor anchor bolt from the car and make sure it goes through the Schroth tab/bracket thingie.

The one in the back will fit for sure.
