hey guys,

Got good news and bad news:

Bad news: I got Alex and Adam at Southbay BMW to look at this rear backup camera. They are saying that its doable but the kit itself(PARTS ITSELF) cost 2600 bucks (i can post up the part numbers later) and the labor would probably be 1600!!!!!! Jesus.

Good news: I am getting VIpstatus to find a solution for us. I think he's coming up with one relatively soon. I will keep you guys updated

There is also a CIC ('09 iDrive) OEM rear camera retrofit kit available already, but the parts for this one are not available in the USA yet.

The kit should be priced at the same $500-$600 complete for parts.

It should work as the OP's kit for the CCC in this thread as this the same video interrupt concept triggered by the reverse signal. The problem is coding the sucker as most probably there is no coding as well at the USA dealers. Could be coded/activated by Autologic here in the USA if they already have the coding available, though.

Speak with Tim @ www.Individual-Cars.com He's in Germany but has e-mail & speaks/writes English.
He was going to install mine with a 2 year BMW parts warranty on my 2008 335 for around $1,200, after I factored in the exchange rate. I traded it in on a M3 so never followed through. He sells on E-Bay as well. GL

I'm in Germany too. He wouldn't be able to do the install for you, just the parts & advice. I'm not sure what needs to be done with the coding. Just offered up someone who is knowledgeable & has installed these before. If you do a search, there's another military guy that had the camera installed on his M3.

Hey, just want to shared some pics of my Back Up Camera that was done by "BenchMark Motoring" in Bellevue, WA area. It took them 3 dys to finished the job, caz the 09 system is different than the 08. So it took them a little bit longer to called to the German Manufacture Tech to request the new code. It was done back at July 1st and cost me $1500 out the door (tax, parts and labors). The view is nice and clear. I really do like it a lot. The sales person also made an extra funcation for me as FREE. When I hold the Manu buttom for 3 secs, and it will switch over to the back up screen while I was driving. He claimed that is good for the track and local street to see how close are the cars in behind.

BMW qouted me a couple hundred $ more than Tim, so I talked with him first - So BMW in the US can't make this work? They damn sure can here.

Look @ thread http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ht=back+camera

He had the BMW back up camera installed in Germany and since went back to the States. He may be able to help.

Hey, thanks. This is an Aftermarket parts. I tried to get it done through the OEM, but unfortunately the dealership does not have the ability and parts to do the works. I'll try to contact the sales person and see if they are willing to give me the code and more info on it

NavVideo has an iDrive video interrupt module -NV_BMW356 for up to MY2008, NV_BMW09 for MY2009-on- that can be used for back up camera.

http://www.navvideo.com/navvideo-models-nv_bmw356.asp

The NV_BMW09 module is not listed in the website, but it is available for $395 (no camera included).

Connecting the wire correctly when installing a back up camera is very important. You should locate the vehicle's reverse light wire, solder together the camera's power wire to the vehicle's reverse and run the camera's signal wire to the monitor.

I have just bought an LCI E92 M3 (2013) and am looking to do this retrofit as the car doesn't have it (Rear PDC already installed).

The retrofit kit from BMW quoted (66 21 0 412 010) was superseded by this kit
(66 21 2 180 732), has anyone successfully retrofitted this to an E92 M3 and does this include the wiring loom and camera or is there any further parts needed for this retrofit?
