Stoptech ST60 brake caliper service problem
My calipers are being cleaned, repainted and serviced. Two problems:
1. There is a block inside the caliper held with two Allen bolts. This needs to come out for cleaning, however, one of the bolts is seized. However, given the shape of the caliper, it is difficult to get to with anything other than a small Allen key. Any suggestions? See pics below for illustration. 2. My caliper service guy paints with powder coat. The calipers have the removable flap on top which allows you to change the pads with the calipers in place. The fit is tight and there is a concern that with added thickness of powder coating, the tolerances will be too tight for the flap to be operational (so he is suggesting painting it in place). Would like to retain this capability which is obviously one of the attractions of Stoptech calipers. Any suggestions? Can't see many other than don't powdercoat! |

You can separate the caliper by taking the big bolts out. Otherwise, just mask that off. That's what my powdercoater did.
