Windshield replacement issues?
Hi guys,
I\'m getting my windshield replaced, and am curious if there\'s anyone on the forum who has had it done and had experienced issues/problems during the process or afterwards. All Star glass is going to travel to my office to do the work. I\'ve used them before and they did a good job on the window of my previous car. Getting the original dealer part. Got it covered by insurance. Thanks in advance. |

Make sure it's OEM Glass..... if you have the rain sensor, make sure it is FLUSH with the inside of the glass or it will bubble.
Sometimes the windshield wipers get messed up but that is an easy adjustment. oh yeah....make sure it's OEM Glass.... and OEM seals, upper and lower.

I just had mine done at the dealer. It cracked in Germany and the dealer did an amazing job. OEM glass, quick drying adhesive and warranty.

One more vote for the dealer who did it in house. In your case if you go with the outside company get OEM or Pilkington glass and check their work on the rain sensor. What are they charging you?

Got hit by 2 stones and Speedy Glass did a fantastic job (it left two very tiny marks, the size of a hairpin then it is not in my view so it does not present a problem at all).
If I had to replace the windshield completely it would only be handled by my BMW dealership.

Thanks for the replies. Now I'm debating whether or not to have All Star Glass install it. Maybe I should just go to the dealership. I wanted the glass company because they are more convenient and would come to me, and because I didn't want to have to drop off the car and wait all day.

my recommendation --> DO NOT get a van guy to come and do it outside... take it to a professional shop... here in Seattle, euroglass in Redmond is run by two super experienced guys who have a nice clean shop .. where they let the windshield cure for a while once they've put it on and take the time to do it really well... the windshield is a stressed member / part of chassis and you do not want a lame ass job done on your M3 .. which is a stiff car..

I used a glass shop as they do lots more glass than the dealer. Didn't use a van in the parking lot though. I explained that the car was important to me and they advised me to take it to their shop while the guy I spoke to fitted it himself. Ordered the wrong part but once that was corrected he did a really good job. No complaints. Rain sensor and seals are perfect. £75 (insurance xs). I guess it's the luck of the draw though. Just depends which man you get.
