I assuming you're talking about you DRLs, like the post above suggested (as noted, find 'vehicle' settings and deactivate them if you want). If you have your actual headlights on in daylight, your photo sensor is bad, and needs to be replaced.

you can still change this setting without iDrive. Refer to owner's manual for instructions. I just searched the index for Daytime Running Lights and it referred me to step-by-step instructions in the manual.

Well, if DRL are not active don't be surprised if you are still driving around with the lights on when in auto mode. The computer will only activate them on and off so many times during each drive before leaving them on. If you go through tunnels, shade or parking garages often in the first few minutes of your drive they are likely to stay on. It is irritating but normal vehicle function.

I don't have I Drive, but I personally keep the headlights on manual since each time I pull in my garage they turn on when in auto and the less strikes on the Xenon headlights the longer they will last. I had two replaced just before warranty expired on my old E46.

Are you sure it's not dark outside when your lights are set to auto mode?

Take it into the dealership....... they have to turn them on or off. Same issue with my X3. There is no operator switch if you dont have iDrive. Just remember you get an insurance discount if you have DRL's.

+1

I don't have IDrive and can still turn the DRLs on and off using the dash computer. I'd describe the full process, but it will be way too much to type. Just look in the manual - it covers it.
