Dracon from E90post will have the 2014 Maps CCC-version for download sometime today he said in the first post. I'll help him seed that too probably, so you should be able to get it pretty quickly once we have it. Just need an FSC code, got mine from Dracon.

Wait. CCC users have to have an FSC code too? I haven't heard anything about this. However, that may be because the preconfigured DVD's people sell already have the FSC code factored in?

Label me a noob relative to nav map updates… :/

I really don't know -- I assumed everyone needed one, I could be wrong about the CCC.

Yeah, you can contact dracon whenever (although from above it looks like CCC may not use an FSC code? Dracon's a forum vendor so he should know what you need). Also yes, it appears that there are 'EAST' and 'WEST' packages contained within the torrent, so it's likely the 2 discs you're used to.

Found the answer to my own question: CCC users don't need an FSC code! :woot:

Just torrent the DVDs, use WinRAR to uncompress 'em and burn the ISO images to disc. Voila!

It is an activation code for the maps (code is generated based on your VIN and the specific map update). It's basically how BMW can make sure you pay them for the maps every time, but there are a few people here who can generate you a code for $50 or less.

Getting "waiting for..." ( server name ) at the moment on the third file/disk...wonder if my d/l has stuck?

He did it for my 2012 update (I have a pre- 09/09 build car, had to do via DVDs).

If it's anything like the previous updates, it's just POI and roads.. I don't think they can pack SW updates on these things.

It is not an image file
Once you extract the RAR file, you end up with a folder called usbdvd something
The contents of that should be put on a USB drive
Or DVD in your case

Thanks! I think I have it sorted out.

I missed the step to un-archive the *.rar file. I don't do this every day, just forgot since it was late.

I'm now using 7zip to extract the files to the three directories. Then I'll use ImgBurn to create the disksand give it another shot.

I'll try and capture some screenshots of the process and update the thread later on tonight.

Basic process is currently:

1) Click on link in Post #1.
2) Right click and 'save target as' somewhere on your PC. Should end up with three *.rar files in a folder.
3) Download or obtain 7zip (freeware equivalent to WinRAR), install.
4) Extract each *.rar file to a directory with 7zip. I did an 'extract here' option which created three folders.
5) Download or obtain ImgBurn, install.
6) Create three DL DVD-R (WalMart: Memorex DVD+R DL 8X 8.5GB 240 min, $11.97) disks using ImgBurn. Use ImgBurn to create discs with files or folders. One at a time, select the pkgdb folder, and the config file, and create a disk. Should end up with disks 1, 2 and 3.
7) Insert disk 1 into the car. After about a minute, the car will recognizes the disk, and asks if you have an activation code,
8) This is where you enter the 20 character FSC code. (See other posts about how to get a code. I got mine through member Dracon).
9) After you enter the code, the update starts. For me, disk 1 took about 30-35 minutes. I did it running errands. The update just starts up where you left off.
10) Insert disks 2 and 3 when the car asks.

That's it.

Just so I understand this correctly...

I downloaded the DVD CCC maps yesterday and it was split into 6 ISO files, part I, II, and III for each region (East/West). So I just burn each image to a disc (have 6 discs total) or do I need to somehow burn the three parts of each region to the same disc (so I have 2 discs total).

I'm sure this is much easier than I think it is but I'm just confused :/
