When will these precision 7 automanual movements be available exactly!?

Can you write a poem about that? Would it rhyme with cascading snow banks, revitalized flowers, or blazing heat?

Sorry, can't help repeating myself.

We basically knew this. I think tying this "Symphony" to a season would be new.

Since it debuts on the convertible the time frame should be about the same. So if somebody could tell us when the Convertible will be launched...do I hear a whispering...June???

Best regards, south

He did say "spring/early summer" in post #30 for the convertible, so I guess that means May/June.

I didn't know DCT would debut on the convertible though.

Scott, this is really useless marketing drivel.

I don't find it useful nor particularly entertaining either. I appreciate your willingness to share and post here but I'm sure you have heard the classic expression "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". Here you just need to substitute "novel" for "nice".

We didn't hear that, rather an "educated guess." Scott tells us that DCT is part of the E93 M3 promotion so it only makes sense to me that it will debut on the convertible. I'm sure that E92/90 DCT won't be introduced with much delay (if any), but it won't be there before the Convertible has landed.
Tell me if you think that doesn't make sense!?

Best regards, south

I think we are adding to the speculation after being given cryptic little messages that might or might not mean anything.

Yeah, you're right. Nothing 6MT club members have to worry about though.

That explains it!

You're just trying to confuse the DCT club members: L ans Sw, and I think someone else decided to join last time this came up?

No, that's not me. I know that the MT is great, but everybody who's willing to wait for the DCT (June is what I'm still saying) should do so.

What makes for a fundamentally flawed launch IMHO is launching a very race/track/performance type of option such as DCT on the chassis of a vert which is fundamentally not suited to such environments due to its increased weight, decreased stiffness and decreased safety. I know BMW makes a big deal about not compromising the driving dynamics on verts but there is no way around more weight and less stiffness.

A buddy of my bought an early E46 M3 Vert with SMG. Of course a bit of teasing ensued...

I am not so optimistic at all of DCT being available with NA launch as originally rumored. I base this on the official NA spec sheets which will probably be revision free at least for some short period, longer than between now and March I'd guess.

Let the unbearable wait begin, ugh.

As futile as it is I will still state it...BMW - you will not get a penny from me until the M3 has DCT.

What you forget, though, is that it will have an Automatic mode, which is perfectly suited for leisurely touring!

Exactly! The M3 convertible is much more of a "look at the cool car I drive" car (even if I don't know how to drive a manual) than a full expression of a performance car.

It makes a whole lot of sense to me, south. Reading back through the thread, when probed about DCT, Scott quoted one of his previous posts relating to the promotion of the convertible, and bolded a piece of it.

To me that is confirmation.

It seems fairly clear to me that he is saying that the DCT box will debut with the convertible at Geneva. I realize everyone will have their own belief system here, however. I guess what I am saying is - clearly Scott can't be verbose about things, so he will find other ways to clarify a point, such as taking the time to re-highlight something. Come on guys, its like Pictionary, when someone begins wildly underlining a word you've previous gotten correct.

$100 bucks to a charity says DCT on the convertible in Geneva. Who will take it?

At least we'll probably get to see DCT in the press release this month for the convertible.

Yes and no. I think it's a quite good marketing strategy to launch it in the Convertible. What could better emphasize the qualities of the DCT than launching it on the really heavy convertible: If BMW can state that the E93 DCT times (0-62) are on par with the E92 MT times (dunno, but possible), everybody would say: Wow, imagine what DCT's benefits on the E92 will be...

You're really tough with BMW. Let me say this: There's always a place in the MT club exclusive for you!
