I just installed the M Perf E Brake with alcantra boot - looks great with my M Perf seats! More info on the power steering thing-a-ma-doodle please! I am getting tired of cleaning my engine bay after every track day...

You're taunting me by mentioning the PF seats... I love those!! Just not sure it will be comfortable for me on long drives as I do take long trips in the M3 somtimes.

I'm looking forward to installing that kit - it's very basic and should do the trick. I will definitely keep you updated on that.

A lot of track drivers use a sock too - this is helpful in reducing the mess.

Take a look at the pictures at the bottom of the first post here and you will see the sock on the PS reservoir: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=924128

Do you have a part number for that power-steering overflow kit? I've been looking for a low-cost solution to that problem. (In anticipation of my first track day.)

Is it basically the same thing as depicted in this post.

I am bit confused ... pristine new replacement engine has an old oil filter housing. I thought the housing was upgrade the tightening torque was increased from 25 to 40 Nm. If you look at the late model cares the oil filter house has a second cap too. This housing is the same as my '07 ... unless you are using parts from the old engine to minimize cost!

What a post and perfect pics of this amazing project
And what a pic of breaking the engine / trans. marriage ...WOW !
And yes these motor mounts were cracking with the new motor mounts you will feel the difference (less of engine vibration inside cabin)
But the best part to see is the new S65 and she's begging for oil and ...high rpm's
Mike my friend THX for sharing and i will follow this amazing BPM project ...for sure

That's what it came with. That's the one we've seen on the 13 cars here also.

No parts from old engine are being used other than the pulleys, throttle bodies, power steering pump, and alternator (national back order). You are correct that it doesn't have the cap that I've seen on Some of the newer cars. Not sure why. You can see on some of the pic w/ both engines the filter housing is on both and is the same.

Thanks Mike. It's baffling that a new engine doesn't have '13 spec parts. Unless, the engine was ordered using your '08 chassis #, they sent you an '08 spec engine. hence you see the old oil filter. Good luck with your build as always!

It does, the part is the same although the lettering on the new ones is lighter. The plastic piece just snaps on.

Thank you!
