Does anyone know if motor / transmission mounts are covered under the CPO warranty or not?

they're maintenance really, warranty won't cover it but you can always try.

Thanks for letting me know. I have the maintenance plan as well and it will expire in december. Trying to change everything prior to that .. 75k and no issues so far.

Waterpump, WaterPump Pulley, thermostat, expansion tank, antifreeze, distilled water to mix with the antifreeze in order to prevent rusting of the radiator, 4 cabin air filters, Liquimoly because it just works better than castrol, 2 drive belts, and a dinan hat. If anyone tells you 08 E9X M's aren't reliable tell them to LEAVE THE CRACK PIPE ALONE.

I would not use Liquimoly 10w60. It is a lot thicker than TWS. Given the rod bearing problems in the M3, this will make it heat up more and cause more wear.

I understand your logic here but how does that correlate with bearings that need replacing at 7, 15, 20k miles? It doesn't.

And plenty of people who commented on how their engine gave up described moderate, non-tracking, etc. If you drive this car on the edge all the time, you'll be in jail sooner than you can blow up the engine.

It's impossible to baby an engine for 150k+ miles. That's all I have to say.

what kind of symptoms did the engine mount have?

I have a weird knocking noise in my engine bay that comes and goes under 2k rpms with various low loads.

it's not rod bearings, it's intermittent, and im sure my engine would be toast after 1500 miles and a roll racing event

Great to see some high mileage runners here.

I just got a 2008 with 75k miles. I drove it home 1250 miles, plus around town, plus the dealer told me they put on at least 500 miles. I think I have at minimum 2000 miles on this oil change (who knows when it was changed last).

I am ready to do a baseline maintenance program coming up this weekend....

1. Plugs
2. Oil/filter
3. Manual trans fluid
4. Rear diff fluid
5. Cabin filters
6. Air filter
6. Bleed the clutch

Once completed I will send the oil in for analysis. I will post results once I get them back.

I will also do the coolant flush and belts at a later date when I have some more time.

Doug

Um, but he has over 150k on his car?
With that many miles, seems like what he is doing, is working great.

Very interesting input, quite contradictive to the Mobile 1 theory but clearly works. Another sign that make me continue with the "thick" 10w60 even in my fairly cold region...

I am not familiar as much with the S65 as I am with the S54, but when BMW changed the formula of the TWS everyone saw higher oil temps, meaning the oil is extracting heat from the internals.

I ran the same oil on my E46M for 20-30k miles with no issues. I am doing the same with my E90M.

Scraping by at 79K and some change.

Looking at a new ABS Module. Other than that - nothing major other than regular maintenance and about 3 sets of the damn felt undercarriage under the front bumper area.
