HELP - No spring in PF Race pads? OK?
Getting ready for my first track day in couple of days. Replacing my stock brake pads with Performance Frictions. The stock pads have a spring attached to them (at least the fronts do, haven't gotten to the backs yet). Am I supposed to pull the springs off the stock and install them on the race pads? Are they even removable? Or do I install the race pads without the springs?
Thanks in advance for your help. Hoping to get these changed out tonight. |

PF pads come without springs and its fine to use them that way.
Just will rattle more than those with springs.

pad rattle
So I put the PFC01s in over the weekend, took it to the track yesterday for my first HPDE, and by the end of the day they were rattling and slapping quite badly. Without the metal clips the pads sit a bit loose. They continued to rattle for the entire 1 hr drive home, at all speeds. They didn't rattle with the brakes even slightly applied.
I expected them to squeal, which they do, but I'm uncertain about the rattling. Has anyone heard of any situations where the rattling became more than just a noise annoyance? It sounds like the brakes are going to self destruct. Will the loose fit get worse as the pads wear? I didn't notice this noise from any of the other cars that were driving through the pits at the track. Thanks for any comments! |
