Lease Quote

I just got a lease quote from a BMW dealer in Toronto for 36 months $10,000 down $1400 a month tax included. This is for a fully loaded M3 coupe with 19" Tech pack (MDrive) and executive pack. They actually have 4 cars in stock and I can drive away with one right now.

Does this sound reasonable to you guys? Do you guys think If I wait untill the end of the summer the price would go down a bit, or maybe the interest rate would be different?

Thanks

This is in line for Canadian lease pricing. You cannot compare US to CDN lease pricing.BMW Canada's lease rate is 7.95% with a 54% residual for 24000kms/yr.I am leasing mine through my own leasing company at rates very comparable to BMW,but with much more flexable than their program. This is very important as I do not intend to keep the car for a very long period.

with indie lease companies you should be getting a significantly cheaper rate than BMWFS's rate

After getting a quote for 1600 with zero down, I started to look across the border. Yes BMW lowered the price compare to the E46, but what amazes me is that our options are also MORE EXPENSIVE. So ripping us off on the MSRP is not enough, they can't even match the price on the options for us.

Regards,

Faisal

DCT is 2700 in the US and 3900 in Canada. Crazy.

Best of luck with the importing, though, I've heard from a number of people that 08 BMW's are very hard to bring in.

Is that 1600 for 48 months or 36? Taxes in?

10k down for 1400 a month on 3 year lease? That doesn't sound very good.

i dont think the price will come down, but the rate definitely will! look at the M5, my bro leased one when they first came out @ 7.95%, now its 3.9%!! big difference.

bmw canada is definitely rapping us with the prices, but can you blame them!? their sales are up 15% year over year! would you lower prices if that was the case!

i personally have been driving M3's ever since they came permanently to canada in '97. but this is where it ends! this price gounging has turned me off the brand... when my M Coupe's (i'm hating every second of it, more time in the shop than in the garage) lease ends, i'm gonna pick up a C300 merc...

one last thing to add to this... with all this power that ontario is giving to the highway cops, its way too risky owing a car like that. and this is coming from a guy whose got a clean record....

Good question, actually I am not sure. When $1600 came outta his mouth, I had no desire to listen to him any longer and just wanted to leave. That means I'll be paying ~2G a month leasing this vehicle. We'll see how the import goes, still waiting for my guy to get back to me.

The new laws have me seriously considering an SUV to keep my speed down.

The M3 will be the slowest of my vehicles(once the F150 is gone!) and I been riding bikes that are way quicker than any production car for over 30 years, and yes it can be a problem to stay out of trouble in Draconian Ontario.I am not saying that I have never had problems, the best one was being charged for 100 over(mph) and getting it thrown out of court in 1975 with no lawyer. You just have to use your head and pick your go fast places very wisely.
But the best answer are track days and there are ton's of those available in a 4 hour window from Toronto. That is where my need for speed is found for the most part these days.Do not buy a Land Barge just for the reason of wanting to slow down.

I'm not completely serious about the SUV, but when I tally up plusses and minuses of SUV vs Coupe, the speed reduction is a bit of a plus for the SUV.

that said, I doubt I've been above 150 since the new law came in. I'm very much a person who likes to cruise at a high rate of speed when safe to do so on the highway, but having my car taken for a week is too steep for me to risk.

I fully expect someone will get caught and challenge the legality of this new law, and win, but I'd rether someone else spend the money on the legal fees.

If the M3 is the slowest what else is in the garage??

[QUOTE=jaiman;

Ducati 999s with a few upgrades.About 140rwhp and 414 lbs.I will be retiring this bike from normal street use and using it primarly for track days or that special street ride.
BMW K1200s I will be getting this at the end of the month and this will be my everyday useable bike. Its rated at 167 Bhp and about 500lbs.
Numerous snowmobiles, which have been loaned to me for use through a sponsorship connection of mine.A modern 800-1000 sled well run low 11 second quarter mile times and top out at close to 130mph.

A very fast car seems slow compared to this stuff, but something the M3 is sure a hell of a lot more useable and still can be a lot of fun!

the lease prices i got are 1732 a month nothing down including everything (frieght and crap like that) with every option except extended leather
( 72000 kms). price of car 85890. I am seriously thinking of buying now because how i figure i it. I will be spending around 60k for the 3 years. If i buy the car it will cost about 97k taxes in. Just a estimate i have to ask the dealer tomorrow. So if i get a better rate from the bank and buy the car i am thinking if the car is worth more than 37 thousand in 3 years it a better deal right?? and i thinking about this right?

thanks for your help
my dealer wants me to put down 3 grand deposit non refundable is that bull shit or standard?

You seem to be forgetting finance charges in you're buying analysis. With prime at 5.25% You'll probably pay 8k in interest on a 100% loan in the first 3 years. So your total cost would be 97k + 8k or 105k over the 3 years, less whatever you can sell the car for.
