1yr Service - Should I update my software?

Aloha!

I'm scheduled to have my 1yr service performed in a few days. I have '10 M3 DCT @10K mi. Any recommendations on what to have performed beyond what the dealer recommends? Which appears to be a simple oil change...

More importantly, I was considering having my software updated, I'm currently on ISTA/P 2.39.1. Does anyone recommend me having them load ISTA/P 2.42.2 (latest???). If so, how might the new version benefit me? Go or nogo? BTW, I inquired about the update, and they said that my VIN indicated that it was not required...

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

I just got mine updated during my 15k mile service. I'd just go for it, I don't see why not.

Unless there is a campaign to update your car BMW won't do it under warranty unless you report an issue which an update is known to resolve.

I suppose you might be able to pay them to do it but I'm not sure what the point is.

No reason to update the software unless you have a pre-existing issue.

Most dealers won't update software even if you pay them.

+1. There's no reason to update unless absolutely necessary.
