Premium Sound - music interruptions?

I know some here don't agree, but I've been very happy with the Premium Sound option choice. It is one of the best factory stereos I've had. However, I've had dropouts every 20 minutes or so when playing music from my iPod. I know there are no issues with the iPod. It seems that the BMW loses the signal for a few seconds and then picks it up again. Has anyone experienced the same? Naturally, the dealer couldn't duplicate the issue. They also didn't seem to have any software updates for the car. (It was mfg in April anyway) Thanks for any other comments.

Is it just with the iPod or all audio?

I have the enhanced premium sound and I have had the same problems but with music that I have on the cars hard drive "music drive" (or whatever it is called). It almost sounds like the songs are skipping (like when you shake a CD player) but it only happens on the second half of the CD.

Have you had any issues with this? Are you using bluetooth streaming or connecting via your iPod cable?

No problems here with Premium Sound. Works perfectly.

There is a technical service bulletin for 2008 and possibly some 2009s with enhanced premium sound. The amplifier, which doesn't have a fan, can overheat, interrupting the sound. The free fix is a replacement with an updated amplifier with a fan. Mine was replaced by the dealer.

It's only for early '08s. My 06/08 build already has the improved amplifier. And never an issue with 'skipping'. Sounds like it's iPod related; could be something as stupid as an incompatible bit-rate . Good luck.

Happens for me only with the iPod. Not sure how it could be a bit rate issue given that songs play fine for awhile, then simply stop for a few seconds. The songs are still playing although there is no music from the system, which suggests some software glitch. This does not happen on radio. My iPod is a classic, so it doesn't have a shake function.

I've found that the premium system is one of the only car audio systems I've used with the equalizer set nearly flat. What kind of settings are others using?

Have this problem on my 08 and hope the 11 does not! For me it seems to start with the iPod, and once the sound is cut off, none of the audio sources work.
