Whack'em with a mallet?

When changing out the m3 wheels, do they typically sticK? Am guessing no, with studs instead of lug bolts.

Seems like maybe a dumb question, but on my x5 the wheels were unbelievably difficult to separate from the rotor after the lugs were off and many dudes on the forum suggested hitting them with a mallet to break them loose. Was a common problem amongst other x5 owners, and that was a common solution.

Is a bit suspect with a 4500 lb truck on a jack doing this, and at that point Just said f it and took to the tire shop. Would like to swap my own in the m3. Curious if I'm in the same boat and just shouldn't even try.

My c4 cab with bolts also does this.

Mine get stuck on the hub all the time. I whack the tire with a mallet, doesn't take that much force though.

sit beside the car, put your feet on the bottom of the wheel, and pull on the top in sharp bursts of force. the lever action will remove the tire in no time.

Agreed. Give it a kick with a couple bolts threaded in a bit so it doesn't fall off.

We've done this on our primary clutches on snowmobiles. Works well to prevent seizing onto the crank. Didn't think to use it here. Will try it. Thanks.

I was told by a tire dealer that they do not do this because if the stuff gets on your brake disc/pads you could lose your brakes.
