Please post pictures of your FIRST car that you owned or leased. Maybe include links to the pictures of your current ride.

My first car was a 1968 Dodge Dart GT that I bought in 1981 for the sum of $750. It had less than 80,000 miles on it.

After driving it for a year, I decided to do some mods.

The first picture is the car like it was the day I bought it.

The second pictue is the car showing the reverse tilt hood.

The third picture is the car showing the tilt front end.

I was building it with a hi-po 440 engine. I tubbed the inside rear wheel wells to make room for 15" wide tires. I put in a full roll cage. Then I sold it... to my brother. He still has the car.

If this thread generates any interest with people posting pictures of their first cars, then maybe I will go through my box of negatives, and pull out some more shots of this work while it was in progress. I would like to do this again some day on another car just for drag racing.

Maybe I will see if I can get a current picture from my brother.

Some of you have owned other cars before. What was your first? It's not quite like asking you to post pictures of your first girlfriend. Maybe a little background about that car and what became of it if it could be interesting.

Sorry no photos. First learned to drive on my dads 1983 Buick LeSabre Estate (Station Wagon) complete with faux wood panelling. It had the small block V8 in it...made nice noises. In retrospect...it probably didn't put out much horsepower despite being a V8. I learned how to start the ignition when I was 8 or something. I remember my dad allowing me to drive it around the block when I was 12.

Here's a list of other cars that we have owned that I have driven a fair amount in:

1980 Mercedes Benz 300D (diesel...that thing was a frickin' tank. Ate oil like fat kid eats cake...but still)
1982 Toyota Corolla
1993 Honda Civic
1996 Toyota Tercel
1999 Honda Civic
1997 Infiniti I30
2001 Nissan Pathfinder
2004 Suzuki XL-7
2007 Lexus RX350

Of them all, I would miss the Mercedes. I wouldn't mind buying another used diesel Mercedes...circa early 1990s or late 1980s. Those things were built to last. Assuming it has been garage kept and well maintained, it would be a great daily driver.

Indeed--I learned on my dad's '89 300E...it was a tank indeed. But it had the silky three liter inline gas six...

My very first car was a 1969 1600 BMW. I had it for two years (between high school and college) and finally wrapped it around a telephone pole. I drove away unhurt (solo driving) and drove the car for the next 4 months with plastic over the passenger window (the side was caved in); car still drove great and the chassis was fine. Sold it to a guy who fixed it. Don't know what happened to it after that.

(no original pics; these are off the net. But mine was the same color: white on black interior.)

My first car was a 1974 Chevy C-10 pickup, primer grey cab with an oak flatbed. There were no pictures of that car ever taken, and if there were they should be burned. It had Thrush cherry bombs, a tiny little drag steering wheel and I had to push it, jump in and pop the clutch to start it....dear God

My parents wanted me in a tank and so that's what I got, almost literally. I wanted it too though.

Bought it at auction in 12/07 with 30500 miles on it It was fun for 7 months even though it was in the shop ever 1000 miles. But after crashing it after not being able to get out of an accident situation due to the high center of gravity and high weight, getting it back from the body shop, and it never being the same I traded it in for my 335 with exactly 40000mi on the clock.

I got a good offer on it [even though I still lost 30% off my purchase price-i traded it when it was $110 to fill that beast up], it was a rare car. Land Rover only offered 3 options for the 06 Range Rover HSE and they totaled over $12k so usually no one got all of them but this one had everything, not to mention it was black. The dealer I bought my BMW from also has a Land Rover dealer in its network so I told BMW to call Land Rover and tell them what I had and to call me back with an offer. He called back saying the used car manager at Land Rover was frothing at the mouth for my car and they offered me $5k more than anyone else would.

Like I said, it had its fair share of problems but I still maintain that when I can afford it I will always have a Range Rover in my stable.

My first car was a hand-me-down Dodge Daytona that I got from my mom when she bought a new car. Don't have any actual pics, but mine eventually had a set of 16 inch rims and a stereo system (I was young and foolish back then )
