Drive my M3 to work as much as I can. Other times take the X5 when rain or snow. Don't care what other people say or think. All I care about is the drive and enjoyment of WOT. If they give me grief, I just say I have my wife paying for it. End of conversation. Leaves em puzzled how to interpret that response.

I drive my beater to work. But everyone brings up the M3 and question why I don't drive it much. If it was them, they would drive it everyday and every where. +1 To the guys that's say it just depends on where u work.

really depends on:

1. what does everyone else drive? and
2. is it going to be exposed to clients?

I drive it everyday unless it's raining and I just cleaned it or if there is a threat of flurries. My commute is 1.5 miles and it rarely makes it to normal temp before I'm parking. It's not an issue where I work, there are plenty of Accords and Camrys but there are also a lot of Porsches, a GT-R, another M3, Viper, etc. To most, the M3 looks similar to any other 3 series.

I guess it all depends on your position and where you work. At the hospital I was at, half the physician lot wwere all expensive cars: an r8, 2 997 turbos, 4 m3s, 1 M5, a zr1, bentley and other the regular Eclass, audis and 5 series.

I love that I do not need to drive a car every day living in San Francisco. It stays in the garage and I take the train to work every day.

I really don't like mentioning my car when I am at work. Since I am not an executive or even in middle management, they'd not think too favorably about it. Oh, don't even get me going on when I show up to VOLUNTEER at the HOMELESS SHELTER. People look at me really weird showing up to volunteer for homeless in the M3. LOL But really, if I help out in the community, why should they care what I do outside of volunteering my time to help others?

But I do drive it every day doing regular every day tasks like buying groceries... and the occasional track day.

I'm pretty sure 90% of the people can't tell a different between a M3 and 3 series. People tell me sometimes

"OMG you drive a BMW???"

Inside, I'm like "you have no idea what this can do..."

Lol.. i feel ya on that. I dont drive an m3 (135i) and I felt weird when I used to volunteer pulling up to one. I would usually try and park really far away so no one would see it.

No.

A beater is worth every penny what with Florida weather -- a five minute rain shower is always in the cards -- and countless individuals with world class skill for trading paint at low speeds in parking lots. Think: Days of Thunder in slo-mo. Andy Warhol would be pleased.

i was recently in a meeting where 3 women were talking about a car aggressively merging onto the highway and one stated "it must have been a bmw...i profile people based on what they drive" simply brilliant

Work is called Work for a reason. We all work to own the things we do. Be proud of your accomplishments Let the haters hate, if its not about the car, itll be about other things anyways. Given that this is an enthusiast forum, im willing to bet that 90%?+ of us buy the cars we do because we are that, enthusiasts. Not buying them for the faux status they bring in some peoples eyes.

My last toy I had, was a 03 viper with some decent mods. I drove it to work once (Im a small business owner) I could tell my employees were kind of weird about it for the first bit. But when they then realized that I still do work much harder then them they came to terms. Though I can see the office politics being up in everyones business when they see you guys pull up in 75k+ new cars, its more about the person you are that dictates the attitude rather than your belongings

Yup, everyday. My boss has a yellow C6 Z06 vette so most people will notice his car before mine. Actually, I lot of the people here drive Mercedes, BMW, Lexus so my car just blends into the parking lot.

Same here...small business owner and I don't want my clients or employees seeing how often I swap cars or what I drive. I would love to but after driving my x5 and then my gwagen the results weren't favorable and the pimps/hoes and transients in the area kept an eye on me. I also noticed that people are less bothered when I'm driving a higher end Japanese car(fx35 or land cruiser) vs anything European. Btw I'm not kidding
