no tire rack is where I recommend buying the tires, and then they have a list on their website of installers they recommend. Obviously this is just my opinion, you could always go to a local tire shop in your area and see if they can work out a deal with you.

mmm def, thanks for the recommendation.

WangTa, Tire Rack sells tires online or by phone and delivers them. We only install tires at our headquarters in Indiana. So we provide a list of installers who have agreed in advance to install tires for Tire Rack customers.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

No word as of yet. They had said March, then late March. There's still no production date scheduled so that's starting to look doubtful. I think they want to get some out for the spring, but they have not given a firm date yet, nor confirmed a production schedule.

We have some follow-up inquiries pending with Michelin.

To answer your question on who would want the 40 series 19" tires, I looked at one size, 285/40R19.

The following brands all would use that size if running a 19" wheel. Did not include every individual model in cases where more than one model for a given brand was compatible.

I'm going to be the sole dissenter here. I like the way the car rides and handles on PS2's better.

I have a stock M3 sedan with approximately -1.5 negative camber all around and 1/16th toe in front.
PSS on RAC Monolites 18" 245/40R18 front 265/40R18 rear
PS2 on OEM 18" with OEM sizes, 245/40R18 front 265/40R18 rear

PSS:
More grip wet and dry
Longer wear (looks like it's going to last 20-30% longer)
Car feels "bound up." Requires about 75% throttle to break the car loose in 2nd gear turns.
Harsher impacts on broken pavement and potholes.

PS2:
Less grip wet and dry
Faster wear
Car is more neutral and breaks away with about 50% throttle in 2nd gear turns.
Smoother ride with less crashing noises over bumps.

I think the PSS may be a better for people with stiffer (aftermarket or ZCP) suspension. To me, the PSS is a bit too grippy for the shocks/springs on a standard, stock M3 causing additional body roll. The car is more playful on PS2's, IMO.

The difference is not huge but I will probably burn up my PS2's before I go back to the PSS's (I have several sets of wheels/tires in the garage). For the money, I'd probably go with the PSS's since the OEM PS2's are ridiculously priced.

Just got a nail in one of my rear tires and had to replace the ps2 with super sport. The load rating is 101 instead of the 97 for the ps2. Much stiffer tire wall. Why didn't they make a 97 rated tire for the m3 in a 265/40 18?

+1 except, I just switched from PS2 to PSS and found the ride quality to be a little harsher than the 2 previous sets of PS2's. Agreed, the wet/dry traction of the PSS is much better than the PS2. It has a much stiffer side wall with a 101 load rating in the 265/40 18 size compared with a 97 load rating in the ps2. Should be able to fix the problem by putting the pressure down to 30-31psi instead of the recommended 35psi for the ps2 in the rear (18 inch) tires.

I love my Super Sports and have no regrets. Tire Rack was great to work with on this set and they arrived quickly.

Very impressed with the super sports. More racy of a tire, but still retains good daily driver characteristics.
