If you don't mind me asking, what is insurance offering you to "make whole"? I'm curious if they base their check amount off of Blue Book or what the market is actually dictating.
I'm using that phrase pretty loosely, but they told me I'd get however much it would cost to buy the equivalent car at a dealer. I did a search and saw 2008s with similar miles being offered for $30k and up. If they lowball me I'll show them my findings I'd be surprised if they offered me that much but I'll find out shortly.
They will offer you about 30, maybe a bit less. I went through it recently.

Sorry to hear you've had to endure this, man. Have you replaced your car?

Thanks for info. I am cautiously optimistic.

I still have the car, I repaired it, my situation was flood damage though, not fire. Fire is nasty.

Does it feel new(ish) again? Any lingering issues?

Yeah, the car is fine, better than before technically. Don't sweat it, it'll all work out.

This makes me so sad. At least nobody is physically hurt.

My biological alarm would have went off on the "weed smoker renting garage" part. Very sad to see one of the pre LCIs in this state...

Just watched your video and it really shows how damaged your car really is. I would not buy the car back and part it. Who would buy the interior with the smell or the exterior with the damaged paint and melted CF roof? This is very unfortunate. Sorry man.

I bet an ozone generator would fix the smell in the interior.

The car looks like a brilliant candidate for a track car conversion. I hope a forum member buys it.

As someone mentioned previously...I would try to buy this car back from the insurance company if the price is right. Yes, it could take a lot of money to bring it back from where it was but depending on price you can buy it for, it might be worth it. Worse case you could part out a lot of stuff on this car (including the very pricey and probably perfect low mile s65 under the hood along with a lot of other undamaged metal components). The perfect interior once removed from the car might smell normal again with some work.

Really appreciate all the support, guys

Wow, so sorry to see this. I’m new to the LA area and still adjusting to these crazy parking solutions. Sad to see something like this happen. Hopefully farmers get this sorted out. We had a total loss claim with Farmers on a specially optioned 330i. We argued their settlement 3 or 4 times and ended up with a VERY nice check at the end. Do not underestimate the value of what it would take to actually replace this exact car! Negotiate as much as you can.

Are the PSS tires salvageable? I might be interested.

Two of them might be damaged by heat, upon closer inspection.

I got an offer of $29,500 and went ahead and accepted it. I wasn't up for a fight and they didn't lowball me, although I was hoping for a bit more.

Now the hard part comes: What's next? I have been wanting a sports sedan so been thinking about an M5, Lexus GS-F, M6 Grand Coupe, Panamera, Audi S7...but my dream car has always been a Porsche 911 so maybe it's time to make that happen.

Thanks for all of the supportive comments, guys. They really helped me deal with this bummer of an ordeal.

Nice car. They had it scheduled last week or the week before ... i can't remember but the pre-bid was around $9K. It will likely bring over $10K at auction and chances are it'll get repaired and put back on the road.

Oof that is a rough video. Sorry for the loss but at least it sounds like insurance did a fair job taking care of you. Definitely time to get that 911 if you can swing it.
