That is one of the coolest cars I have seen in a long time! I also want to know what the range is and the length of the race.

Most electric cars have maybe a 40-50mile range. This race is just under 12.5 miles, 156 turns, and an elevation change of nearly 4,700ft. One benefit to using all electric is you won't loose hardly an HP/TQ like a gasoline/diesel engine would driving into that thin mountain air. I'm not sure how much power loss there could be attributed to the heat generated.

In the future, we can all drive battery cars like we once did when we were kids!
Now in full scale haha...

You probably need heat sinking and fins to cool air like a computer?

The airfilter is for the blower that force cools the motor, when you are dumping 1400 amps into any motor that size it's going to get molten hot in little time.

Just so everyone knows the motor he is using retails for 3500$ and the controller retails for 9,500$.
He is currently running at 265 volts ~83 cells @ ~250$ea. = ~21,000$ ~160mile range @ 300wh/mile (range with conservative driving) Total cost without donor car or other components = 34K$

A friend of mine has the electric 1. I drove it. It was quick and felt like a proper BMW dynamics wise. This electric M3 is something else altogether! THAT thing is bad ass!!!!

So you don't get any exhaust noise... I don't like it.

once its done a pike peak, they should just put it in some drift competitions -- tires would be the only expense

If they made electric cars like this more people will buy them. I wonder how the car sounds revving etc.
