Bring a wind-breaker type jacket, sweatshirt/tee shirt, and consider some gloves guys. I was out there in early October with the CCA, and it was pretty cold already. My hands were definitely chilled with the window's open.

tech form

Ive got a question regarding the tech form that needs to be brought to the track. Given that it will be my first track run I wanted to get some feedback regarding how most of you proceed with this form. Do I need to take the car in to a shop and have a mechanic check everything and sign it off or do I vouch for the car myself and sign off. My cars in pretty good shape (rear tires are a little worn).
Any input would be appreciated it.
thanks

Did you see the form? It's really basic. You can do it yourself.

All of the above, but maybe some WARM drinks in a thermos if it's going to be cold there. It also gets pretty winding in the afternoon, so you'll want to take down any tent you set-up in the afternoon. There's no cover for the cars, so you're on your own in the parking lot.
Someone should bring a torque wrench with a deep 17mm socket, and a tire pressure gauge. My buddy also brings a cheap small electric air pump that uses the lighter socket in case we need some air.
I usually use clear shelving paper to cover large areas of the car and paricularly the headlights, and then cover the more detailed areas with painters tape. The shelving paper is much thicker, cheaper and you can cover large areas. Don't worry about the wrinkels or you'll go crazy. Just make sure the edges are down well. Sard, you should definitely cover up that nice splitter/lip.

It's a fun track and good to have instruction since there's a lot of rocks if you get off. It's also awesome to see so many people going for the first time.

Be sure to set save May 15-16 to run AAA Speedway with the CCA. It's a BLAST going along the front straight flat out into the big bank of turn 1. Then the rest of the course is in the infield.

I don't know about SpeedVenture, but the CCA wants a shop to do the inspection and stamp it or staple a card on the form. Not saying you couldn't do it yourself though.

If you really do feel uncomfortable doing your own inspection, please bring it to a shop to let them do it. It's better for your safety and those you share the track with. One incident was when a 911 was leaking coolant all over the course causing one S2000 to slide in the middle of the turn and flipping his car.

Guys make sure you have enough brake pad left (more than 5mm) and more than 2/32" tread left for street tires. Also check the tech form to see if you meet all the requirements, but those are the ones I see that might cause a problem.

Message me your phone # if you want so we can keep in contact.

I'm in

Hey guys!

I just signed up for this track event, I'd like to caravan with you guys but since I live in SD, I would have to be up at 0300. I have family in Lancaster so I might just head up there on Saturday. If you guys like we can meet in Lancaster so I can roll with all of you. There's a very convenient Starbucks located on Avenue I and 20th Street West, it's right off the freeway by the Highway Patrol station. Let me known if this works for you.

Octavio

Guys if you check out the site there's already about 60 people that day. I'm not sure of remaining slots.

weather.com is showing 10% precipitation for Sunday. I'd say chances are good in our favor. I hear it almost never rains there anyways. Octavio will be up there all day Saturday and will let me know what it's looking like.

From Glendale to Lancaster should only be an hour drive, I'll be waiting for you guys at around 0615 in the Ave I starbucks, from there it should only be a 20-25 min drive to the track. I will keep Sard updated on the weather conditions on Saturday and the forecast for Sunday.
