Gintani Sport Installed - Thoughts / Pics / Vids
Hi guys,
Have had a couple of days now with the Gintani Sport. What an exhaust. For those debating on variously priced exhausts I will post some quick thoughts below to help guide you. - It is very hard to hear exhaust sounds based on youtube clips. Even based on my own recording, its hard to capture the sound spectrum (High/Low) and perceived volumes unless you do it in person. This is imperitive. - It is a LOUD exhaust. When I say LOUD, i mean it. Do not even consider the race unless you truely do not value your eardrums, nor your neighbors. - It is a very bassy exhaust. The sounds it produces are incredible, auditory rythm that is most prominent on the LOW and HIGH rpms, in the mid-band the intake roar takes over. - There is a low frequency boom (Drone?) most prominent between 1800-2800rpm in lower loads. My sensitive ears are still acclimatising, but it completely drowns out everything and hence this is not a completely drone less solution. Build quality is superb and the tips look fantastic. I see no need to stick gaudy branding on the exhaust tips and Gintani agree, the double walling is fantastic and really stick out. Would I recommend this exhaust? Definately, but be prepared it is LOUD Most definately one of the best sounding exhausts on the market - I don't get why you would want something so close to stock (Akra slip on, Eis Sport, BMW Perf). On cold start on my iPhone app it idled at 100db, settling to 90db. I will post some more vids tomorrow of me giving it to it. Proper vids to follow but here is a cold start idle to tease

Great to see you are liking it. I was worried it was going to be a bit quiet :-)

They look like four drain pipes bit like the Subarus. It might sound great but the looks ruin a classy car.

Like on every post if you can't say something positive why don't you keep it to yourself and not try to spoil the experience for the owner especially when it's an opinion not based on any fact. Negative posts only bring down the tone of the whole forum.

Some photos attached of the Gintani Sport in polished stainless and the ceramic coated back option. Polished system (sport) shown fitted to stock X-Pipe ceramic black is valved version fitted to Gintani X-pipe with high flow cats. I have a lot of sound files (of the valved sport with X-pipe) but not of the straight sport version, maybe Totti will upload some in the future.

I am not trying to ruin anyone's experience. I still maintain they look way to big. That's only my opinion. By the way, my opinion is based on the first pic with the 1/// next to the ///3. The pipes look big. And I don't know what you mean by No hard feelings.

He means you should always keep it to yourself, on every post (not saying that I agree).
I am about to pick one of these up and pair it with my Fabspeed X-pipe with HFC. I have tried about 6 different combinations of x-pipe and rear section now and they are either too loud or too quiet. I feel like Goldilocks; hopefully this one will be just right!

They do look a bit bigger in the first pic, but I think it's because of the shiny muffler in the background. In person and in the other photos the Gintani looks good, probably a similar size as my Eisenmann

Why do you say the pipes look too big? Have you seen them in person? You're comparing them to a 1er? Little bit of a size difference mate. Look at the classiest pipes of all, Akrapovic, the tips are huge. The BMW Performance exhaust looks like the car is dragging a scrotum. Others look like they have been superglued to a 44 gal drum. The straight through design of pipes to cans is the most logical way to set them out - ok, so seeing the diff cooler might not be so cool but it beats the alternatives. I'm not calling you out but you should see them in person before judging. I get several comments daily on the pipes and I get noticed in the street far more than I would like. Would I change anything? No way

M3PO you may want to consider the valved version Gintani Sport with your X-Pipe, that way you cover all bases. Valves closed and it's nice and quiet around town but still has that really deep throaty sound, open the valves and it can be very loud, Gintani seems to be loudest under acceleration and quietens right back at cruising, which IMO is ideal. I bet if you get the valved version you won't be changing again. I've been through 4 major brands now and could not be happier with the existing set up. Be interesting to follow your progress. |

They do look a little large in that first pic. That said, I think a nice diffuser will tone them down a bit. I had a Meisterschaft GT with very similar and it looked really nice with the tips tucked in tight to the diffuser.

Also, I am buying this one used from Gintani so it is what it is. The cost of valved systems is beyond what I am willing to spend on an exhaust.
