What are your feelings toward AFE products

I was just wondering what everyone thought of AFE performance products. Pulley's and airfilters, etc

Around here, everyone seems to like them which is strange to me because, from my 350Z days, they were not highly regarded to say the least.

Build quality looks like crap. Their intakes replace the stock airbox with plastic and sheet metal that leaves the airbox open... I've installed one of a friend's M5, but never put anything of theirs besides a drop-in filter on mine. The filter was fine and I felt a bit of difference, but I ended up getting the Dinan intake. Didn't mind paying the money for minimal (if any) gain and a CF charge pipe.

I have the filter and the scoops. Good so far. I do not think that it is cheap at all.

The new AFE intake which I have has had no issues. They keep the OEM airbox it is very simialr to the MS Stg 2.

I also have their under drive pulley with no issues as well...very good.

Glad to hear that they went away from the open airbox design and stepped up the quality. I have no experience with their pulley, but nice to hear some good feedback.

I have the scoops and stage 2 intake. Don't notice much but I guess that could be considered a good thing because then I guess you could look at it as just as reliable as stock. I raced another 100% stock M (both dtc) and I did beat him, repeatedly. So in short I haven't had any issues lol

I have the new one that is not an open design. I bought it secondhand for pretty cheap. I'm going to install it this weekend. I hear the bark is bigger than the bite. That's okay because I really just bought it for sound and my car is an '08 with the old charcoal filter. I'm certain this will flow better. The quality looks good from what I've seen.

I can't speak to their other products.

I installed the stage 2 last night. Build quality looked good. The molded elbow was very smooth inside almost polished. The stock design is kind of an accordion. Mine included the dry filter which does not have to be oiled. I guess you can also order with the oiled version for more airflow.

My initial impression is that the engine is slightly louder. I honestly could not tell a difference in any sort of power. The seller also threw in some red RPI scoops. They look good on the car. I'll probably keep the set up as I got it fairly cheap, but I would not pay $450 new for the intake and $100 or so for the scoops.

kitw got 6rwhp peak hp gain throughout the rpm range, with some area under the curve near 10rwhp. I feel the car didn't adapt completely as when you saw the AF ratio it actually ran a tad more rich not lean.

Here is the dyno..
