I'm 10,000 behind you. Have you done any oil analysis? I'm still on the original water pump, thermostat, brake rotors and pads. Swapping out the adjusting pulley lever and belt tensioners this weekend.

Wow that's crazy, aside from rod bearings and annual rear tire changes this car is generally pretty reliable and robust.

No kidding. How on earth are all those people getting those crazy fuel economies? They must have someone get out and push the car half the time

Even when I try driving slowly and tamely I still get crappy fuel economy. This engine drinks more than a freshman at a frat party

It's not like I have to skip meals to afford this car I got a 2008 model simply because why not? It was half the price of a new one, and the car has been essentially unchanged in all its model run (minus Nav and taillights). Nevertheless, that doesn't mean I should feel glad to pay $1000 for a simple part that probably doesn't even cost a tenth of that to manufacture. And by the way, you rant and vent rage at used cars being "abused" and "raped" by their previous owners, and you fail to realize a simple fact. These problems I complain about are caused by a design flaw in the part. Care to explain to me how owner abuse causes a throttle actuator to fail? Is that something that's supposed to be maintained somehow and bad maintenance is causing them to break down? And rod bearings? That's caused by tight clearance coupled with too thick OEM oil. What does that sound like? Why, it sounds like a design flaw! These are very simple basic components that are supposed to last the lifetime of the car. Them failing often is inexusable, and don't give me any BS about owner abuse. That has nothing to do with it. Other companies seem to have no problem making those parts reliable.

And to add the final nail in the coffin of your ridiculous argument, a quick search of this forum reveals that even a new or semi-new M3 is not guaranteed to be immune from a bearing or actuator failure

Another big rant about nothing. Usable power band is the power band that can be utilized, nothing more. All this speech about flat torque curve is irrelevant, just like your rant about used M3 being "raped" by their previous owners. The Z06 has more torque and power all over the entire rev range than the M3. Whether it's at low rpm for the streets or high rpm for the track. The M3 may have a flat torque curve, but there is little torque available anyway. That means one has to stay in low gears and keep the rpm high to be able to utilize the traction and get good acceleration, instead of bogging down. And just because someone doesn't know how to drive a Z06 on a track doesn't mean an M3 is better track car. It simply means that person needs to learn how to drive.

There are cars that cost more that have less repair costs. Parts are overpriced more because it's a BMW than due to its $70k price.
The thing though is you have done enough ranting and bitching about this car and the brand, particularly on a forum created for people who love this(ese) car(s). I'm not too sure what your objective is, but at some point you just need to stop. Playing the same record over and over doesn't make it sound better other than becoming a source of irritation.

I'm not buying that! original brake rotors and PADS ? That must be some kind of record.

I believe it if he does a lot of highway. I'm still on the original fronts though I can hear te sensors starting to wear down, at 60,000 and I have two seasons of autocross and some track time on them

Yes mostly highway miles, another reason not to order CCB on the M4.

CCB would probably be a good choice for those who track a lot, if only rotors didn't cost so damn much to replace.

I'm at 109k and had to swap out the thermostat. Bearings were swapped out at 70k for preventative maintenance and im on original water pump.

Not to derail, but I seriously doubt the F80/F82 will match the kind of durability/reliability you guys are reporting. It's been often stated - not just on these forums - that the E9X ///M's are fairly reliable. Yet another reason to stick around.

Lets see how stupid you would look making frequent stops on a highway with no traffic.

I'm joining the thread late and I haven't read through all 6 pages but to me, the car is a sum of it's parts and not just what's stated on paper or on it's spec sheet. After loving and buying the R35 I drive today, I find that more and more, I miss my M3 and it's exhaust note, special sounds and noises, quality of workmanship and materials and I LOVE spartan interiors rather than cluttered "show look" luxury interiors. I will be with the E9X gen for a long time partly because I think we are basically at the peak of automotive advancement other than novelty technologies (adaptive cruise control?? Don't need that..) and weight reduction. The E9X M3 hits the sweet spot for me personally and I LOVE it!!!

I am considering an M4 hard-top convertible to replace my 2013 SLK350 in a couple years. I enjoy hard top convertibles, so my options are limited, but I want the best performance I can get.

When it comes to hard top convertibles I don't really have much of a choice, so my options in a couple years probably come down to an SLK55 AMG or the M4.

I will keep my E92 M3 as it is an outstanding car - I can ferry my wife and kids around in it, something I can't do with my SLK, and I get fantastic performance and enjoyment from that 8000 rpm V8.

How do you even know this? Literally NO performance figures have been released except useless 0-60 times quoted by BMW (which are always different than what reviewers are able to achieve). No trap speeds, no handling numbers like the slalom or skidpad, no 'ring times; zero, zilch, nada.

I love the S65, but it's impossible to figure out anything about the S55 except the exhaust note at this point in time. Period.
