I'm sure weight is a factor in every race, but in the go cart u can't even hit the top speed on the track. I would think the low center weight would also help u in the turns... So its pretty much even I would think.

Tech 'n' Talk Question:

When they weight balance our BMWs during the design stage, do they take into consideration an approximation of the driver's weight? Do they take into consideration an approximation of a passenger's weight? If they do I wonder what weight they use? The typical/average German Male & Female weight?

sorry you're wrong...way way wrong...

Top speed is meaningless... unless you're driving in a straight line, it doesn't matter what the top speed is

weight affects acceleration and braking.

The heavier a car (or go kart) is, the sooner you need to start braking, which results in slower turn entry, and the heavier the car the slower it'll accelerate after a turn, thus slower turn out speed

Alsooooo, when there is a small straight, a heavier car will obviously (again) accelerate slower
Top speed is meaningless on a course.

In order to get proper corner balancing, you need to have coilovers.
You cannot do that with a stock car

If you have coilovers (you'll need to be able to adjust the dampening and height , so like KW V2s at least) it'll cost $250 to get a corner balance and alignment at West End

If I ever do coils, I'll do it for sure

But it'll cost me about 4K to get KW CS installed and then corner balanced and alignment.... yeah don't want to spend that $$ lol

Yes... That is what I said originally... I said that I would lose to you in a Go kart lol...

If you like straight line though.... I'm not 100% sure the N55 is the right engine for you.

There are plenty of better straight line engine purpose built cars out there.

Nonetheless, the N55 has potential so I'm sure it'll work out great :P
Just make sure you do it gradually so that you can build proper control

yeah agreed.

umm yeah, if i were truelly into speed i would have gotten a n54 or a diff car.

but i would rather take a good sounding stock exhaust and the body rather than the speed. still the N55 modded is going basically destroy (hopefully) anything on the street..

Actually no BMW is designed for straight line speed.

An AMG or the new Ford Stang GT are much better.
Actually the new Ford Stang GT is very fast around turns too. the Boss 302s are great cars

But I thought you wanted to buy a Vanguard exhaust? if so, then how come the nice sounding stock exhaust part is mentioned?
I'm confused though, you said you want straight line performance but now you say the body and stock exhaust?

To remember that there will always be something faster. Modded N54, Mmodded N55, s/c S65, HPF Stage 3+ S54...there will always be something faster. Always.

I personally am against street racing...but to each his own. Small spirited runs aren't too bad as long as the driver has control of his/her car.

Lowering is actually not the main reason for coilovers.

This is too much info regarding the benefits of coilovers to just put out in a post

did i say you'd be running a Honda? Any modded car has a chance against a STOCK car. Why would you try to compare a stock car vs a modded one? senseless if you ask me.

You wanna run a charger? how about a camaro? or a lambo? or a nissan? i know a lot of FAST honda's but i also know a lot of fast car's in general.

Let's see if you can keep-up with my buddies G37. it's not stock but it's a street driven car and will pass smog. How about a modded IS300... not even a 350. It even has a 4-cylinder.

Faster than modded N55:

modded S65, modded N54, better modded N55, modded civic

Stock:
New STI, new EVO X, Mustang GT.
Stock F430, Zonda.

Not saying the N55 is slow, not at all.

Just saying that there will always be a faster out there

exactly why i'm being defensive. i admit when i'm being defensive cause i fucking truly dislike people for saying stupid shit like that. "It's still a honda"

how's this... bring your fastest friend and i'll bring mine. to the track that is. Let's see if it's still "just a honda."

what, cause we drive BMWs we can't give respect to a fast car? BECAUSE it's a honda? ridiculous. Honda has a rich racing history just like Toyota, Bmw, Nissan, Audi etc.

Next time I want to hear your exhaust

I've never heard the N55 on a 335i. Excited ))

You're right, the 5.0 has a shitty interior, and I'm not a fan of the exterior much.
I was referring strictly to straight line speed

AMG is not basically an M...they're completely different cars.
Can you please explain to me how they're basically the same? (I do agree they're both expensive)
