Are any forum members going to The Glen this weekend? If so, I'll see you there.

Genesee Valley BMWCCA

http://gvc-bmwcca.org/events/EventView.aspx?EventID=59

Event Details:
GVC BMW CCA events are not limited to BMW cars and owners. Cars of any marque are allowed as long as they meet specified technical and safety requirements and are NOT convertibles, trucks or SUV’s (including X5's, X3's, and Porsche Cayennes.)

For this event we plan to accept ~100 students, divided across 3 run groups. A combined Advanced 'A' and 'B' Group (~20+ Days), an Intermediate 'C' Group (~5-20 Days), and a Novice 'D' Group (~0-4 Days). The number of days of experience is approximate.

There will also be a Club Race at this school - Enjoy watching the racers.

Cost:
$420 (BMW CCA Members) $460 (Non-members)
Fees include Saturday night garage party and an 'Ultimate Driving School' T-shirt.

Note: There is a $100 discount for first time GVC novice students. To take advantage of this $100 savings, this must be your first driving school with the Genesee Valley Chapter and you must run in the Novice Group. This special offer is limited to 35 novice students.

I think that it's interesting that in the event details they say that you cannot take a convertible, but in the Spring there was a guy in a Merc SL 55 AMG. Not only is it a convertible, but the guy drove with the top down.

I understand that it has a roll bar that pops up if the car thinks that it's going to roll making it as safe as a hardtop, but I could see someone using these guidlines to keep someone in a spec Miata out of the event.

I don't think any BMWCCA HPDEs allow verts. The car has to have a fixed B pillar.

The Glen is my favorite track, wide, smooth, fast, lots of paved runoff areas. Enjoy, I'm jealous.
