tow bar
Hi All, need help!! i need to be able to use a tow bar style bike rack on a 58 plate M3 E90 for the kids bikes. I know you'll all be throwing up at the thought... but the strap on boot version or on roof versions wont do. (wife wont manage to do either of those). I know there are homologation issues but i'm not towing so not too worried about that. Does anyone know if a 330i kit will physically fit? Anyone out there done it? (Dealer just says nothing available...)

I doubt because of the exhaust as it takes up the whole rear under the bumper, but im sure miltek exhausts come with 2 sepperate o/s and n/s backboxes so maybe fitting one of those to leave a gap in the middle for a tow bar could be a (far fetched?) option that could be fabricated, if you are desperate...

I'd maybe go for the roof rack option, if it's a couple of small bikes, a step and some "training" and she may be good for it!

Witter detatchable swan neck for the 330i works with a slight mod. (2x2inch cuts) to a piece that hangs down where the swan neck attaches. (non integral).
Only prob is you cant fully fold the electrics out of site as where you'd need to cut the bumper for clearance there's a screw housing attaching the bumper to the exhaust bracket (i think). Also used the witter dedicated electrics pack for 330i. All works a treat no more getting the kids bikes on the roof! |
