I'm ordering in at Discount Tire locally. There is a Michellin rebate starting 10/14 btw. Local price is only $248 ea before rebate and taxes vs $275 on the Rack.

Having lived in the PNW for years I have to say all season or summer tires will work just fine. Also if you have a AWD vehicle for the Winters, use that.
I just cannot and would not justify buying tires living in California, Oregon, and Washington. Again the Winters were pretty weak, regardless. Have any of you cats lived in Barrow or Nome AK? That gets pretty bad. Now I am on the East Coast I still will run Summer tires on the M3 and All season tires on the X5. If the roads were as bad as Alaska I will take a week off from work. Much safer and smarter. No need for my lifestyle to waste thousands of dollars or even hundreds on something that I will not benefit at all. Sorry just been in extreme condition countries and states and the PNW is not on that list.

I've lived here almost my entire life and if you're running summer rubber year round here then you're potentially creating danger for others. You're coming off as an ass though, so that's probably not a big deal to you. It's not just about the snow you know. And BTW, some of us have jobs that actually require us to go in and we can't just take the week off. The ICU doesn't wait for a thaw. In regards to where I got my wheels, **********s.com |

Boom
-Stock ZCP suspension -F10 M5 low pressure cast reps by Eurosport 18x8 et20 all around bought at **********s.com (Thanks Jurrian) -Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 245/40/18 square. My local Discount Tire ordered these in for me at $27 each less than Tire Rack as well as $120 in rebates. These tires mount up great to 18x8 with no perceivable bulge due to a straight sidewall (which I was worried about). The offset is perfect for the front, but another 5-10mm out would be better for the rear. It still looks good though but certainly not as flush as my 275s on ZCPs. I figured if these were the BMW winter wheel (270M) specs, then they should be fine. The wheels look fantastic and came with pictured center caps and //M stickers. Unfortunately at 65mph+ there is some minor vibration and I'm hoping it's a fixable tire balance issue. I just put them on today, but I'll be taking them back for balance check this week. EDIT: Stupidly realized the center bore is 74.1. Ordering hub centric rings for 72.6... Initial thoughts on the PA4 since no one has used them yet, they're quiet, more comfortable than my 19" Super Sports, and though early, wet traction seems very promising. How do you guys like the Dunlop 3D's? I am about to pull the trigger with Tirerack and that sounded like the best option they had.
I am looking to do 235 in the front and 255 in the rear. Unless I can be convinced to go with a square setup...

We do not have any steel wheels for the M3 at present. Many steel wheels will not clear the brakes. We do have fairly inexpensive alloys, like the Sport Edition A7.

ok so Ive narrowed it down .. I have (4) 18x8 black sport edition a7s in my garage, TPMS sensors, my car is on its way over to the US shortly... Ive decided I am going to order the dunlop 3ds.
now do I order 235/40r18 or 245/40r18 !? I like the wider look but I know narrower tires handle better in winter conditions. I save about 80 bucks getting the 235/40s ... def looking for some feedback so i can pull the trigger ! |

Ben, thanks for clearing up all my questions!
I received the setup last week and just installed them on Sunday. Looks great on the car! I'll have to post a picture at some point...

Hi,
Everybody recommends 18" square setup with narrow Blizzaks. But in tirerack.com when I choose M3, it only gives me the option of WS60 with 18"s, not LM60s, and I'm guessing it's too much for Boston and I heard those tires are not good on dry. I need a complete solution, but BMW's ridiculous almost $4000 solution is just a waste.
