Or check out Macht schnell stage 2 intake

I love my Macht Schnell. Easy to install. I'm sure it doesn't add much HP, but the sound is great at WOT.

On my e93 I did the OEM exhaust mod and drop in filter. By far the exhaust is the best bang on an e93. Drop in sounds great too.

AFE has a new one with a larger filter and a carbon fibre elbow. I just got it for around $500, its this one.

I'm thinking about getting this new AFE setup as well... probably the non-carbon version with the pro dry filter. I have had AFE on other vehicles before and haven't had a problem. The reason I'm thinking about going with AFE is to use their pro dry filter because when recharging an oil filter I always feel like I never know if I put on too much oil or not enough.

The S65 engine in the M3 doesn't have a mass air meter, you don't have to worry so much about a little over oil.

I run the afe stage 2 full replacement. It's been modified to be a true open air box with a big round filter. Sounds unreal, very deep. Customer service from AFE is excellent as well. IMO it's a much better version than the Mact Schnell

do you have a thread somewhere or pictures you could share about the mods to your air box?

BMW did such a good job I didn't think there was any power that could be had by changing to a different box

Yes. On cell now but search under my name there's a pic of it.

Basically took the afe full metal box and cut it up and modified it to run an open element air filter while still allowing the bottom of the box to act as a heat shield from the drivers head and header.

Gotcha...I think I want to stick with the stock air box...Just looking for more sound. Is the elbow and filter the best route for me to go?

If it's somewhat open, it'll be a glorious sound
