Short throw shifter

Just ordered my 2010 m3 6MT in silverstone metallic. Thinking of getting a short throw shifter. Is it worth it? If so, any recommendations on where to obtain and who should install.

Any other easy, low-cost, minor modiifications you would recommend?

i like the rouge ssk, so much better than stock, to be honest, stock is all i have to compare it to.

First of all - congrats on the new M3.

Look into the Rogue units if interested in a SSK, we have a DIY which will explain the steps a bit in detail and show the inner workings here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5294967

Good first mods would be Macht Schnell filter, Rogue pulley and GIAC software which can provide gains of close to 30hp and can be performed in a matter of hours. Exhaust upgrades can release some hidden hp afterwards.

Moving onto aesthetics, most will lower the car with H&R or RD Sport springs combined with spacers to push the wheels out to the fenders. I would recommend waiting until the 1200mi service is completed before performing any mods, getting a feel for the car beforehand.

I've got a SSII 6MT with Fox Red interior. I've got the UUC SSK, which is very precise and secure feeling and does indeed shorten the throw and speed the shifts.

Unless you have specifice performance goals then I wouldn't recommend further mods. I autocross my car and I've installed the following mods:
UUC SSK

Dinan Stage II suspension kit (spring and camber plates with supporting parts)
4.10 final drive ratio
Dinan ECU flash
Macht Schnell air filter
Dinan throttle bodies
Active Autowerke Signature exhaust

I live at 5400 ft above sea level, so I'm still not realizing much out of my throttle bodies and ECU. I hope that my dyno tuner will get the software for the M3 so that I can tune for my altitude and mods.

My dealer installed all my mods.

If you've got some goals in mind, then maybe we can recommend some mods specific to your needs. Generally, as is, the M3 is great right out of the box and doesn't need mods for most street driving.

For "easy and low cost", you can't beat a high performance filter, which is under $100 and takes minutes to install while yielding several hp on a stock car. The SSK is actually a pretty "hard" install for the mechanic, which I wouldn't recommend as a DIY. My mechanic was cursing and said it was a 3+ hour job, with tight clearances and a lot of contortions on his part.

SSK is nice. I have the Rogue Engineering one as well, and although it only shortens the shift a little bit the precision feels greatly improved.

i was gonna get a Dinan one as i had one in my past 2 M's but i guess they don't make one now for this car

after reading alot i am gonna go with the RE SSK

I'm in market for SSK as well. But I want to buy something LESS NOTCH than stock. I tried AA and it was pretty notch and stiff. Does RE SSK have softer shifting feel than stock?
