Damn, this, the McLaren P1 and Ferrari (Enzo replacement)super sports car, the Lamborghini Aventador, the Pagani Huayra, Koenigsegg agera, can somebody eventually have an ultimate comparo next year. LOL

I'm curious how much the 918 spyder will weigh, 3500-4000lbs?

LOL like Porsche makes piggies like BMW does now and slap in a big engine

3300lbs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_918

This gives the 918 Spyder a 0–100 km/h time in just under 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 330 kilometres per hour (210 mph). The energy storage system is a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery positioned behind the passenger cell. In addition to the plug-in recharge the batteries can also be charged by regenerative braking and by excess output from the engine when the car is coasting. CO2 emissions are 70 g/km and fuel consumption is 3 L/100 km (94 imperial mpg/78 us mpg).

If true this car defies physics, more power than a Prius with better mpg

I wonder how it compares to the Audi E-tron R8?

No comparison. The E-Tron lapped the N-ring in just above 8 min. Definitely not a hyper car.

Surprised it's Racing Yellow instead of Fayence Yellow or even Speed Yellow

Those mpg claims most definitely include the plug-in power and the somewhat sketchy accounting for plug-in cars.

I guarantee that a car with a 580 hp engine will not get 78 mpg, unless maybe you only drive 10 miles per day and recharge every night and drive like a hypermiler.

It is physically impossible unless they are hiding a nuclear generator in there somewhere. With no initial charge, this would probably be lucky to see 25 mpg.

But I would take one.

Interesting exhaust placement, is it just me or does the exhaust exit from on top of the engine, see slide 24.

The martini racing paint job looks pretty cool but what I'd really like to see is a Gulf Oil livery, or Rothmans

+1. Agreed that of those listed the 918 Spyder is the best. It just did 7:14 on the nurburgring! Thats one of the fastest ever if not the fastest for a production car. The performance is going to be incredible (huge understatement).
Plus the 918 is far better looking than all the others as well, even though the Aventador is also right up there.

This may be one of the most detailed and well thought out cars Ive ever seen. Everything from the design, to the aero, interior, wheels, suspension is just engineering at its very finest.
