M3 for under $30k?

Both my wife and I have nearly paid off both of our cars and once we do, I am planning to finally buy an M3.

We talked about it last night and both think that we want to keep the cost at no more than $30k. My questions are:
  1. How likely is it I will find an E90/E92 at that price point?
  2. What kind of mileage should I be expecting?
  3. What MYs am I likely to find at this price point? ('08's/'09's is my guess)

My dream is a 2011.75 fully loaded (DCT too) in either IB/Carbon Leather/Black or JZB/Carbon Leather/Fox Red Extended but, I don't see that as realistic given the pricing trends and how well these cars hold their value. Should I just put this dream on-hold again until I can get what I want; and in the meantime get my wife her dream car? Or, do I say "f*ck it" and pull the trigger on whatever I find (that has been inspected and doesn't have a salvage title, of course)? I can't seem to make up my mind...

The car you described in the last paragraph will sell for like 45k+ still. So yes a big time dream.

E9x M3's under $30k do exist, just doesn't last very long. Like the others have said, you'll find '08 for low 30's and the car you want >$45k.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I still have about a year until my car is paid off and < 8 months until hers is paid off so, I suppose I will just keep looking until then. The most important things are that it is DCT, low(er) mileage and a sedan.

There's people in E46 land still dreaming that they will get $25k+. It might be hard finding a decent E9x for $30k or less. M3's are vehicles that typically sell for above book. However with that said, you might find that one ignorant who got lowballed at the dealership for a $20k trade-in and posts on CL for not much more than that to get a "better deal" for himself.

Not a chance. Unless there is something seriously wrong with it.
Not true, I see one pop up every once in a while. Clean titles, less than 75k miles. There are plenty just over $30k. Give it another 6 months (winter) under $30k won't be a problem for early 2008 models.

I would be hard pressed to find a totally original M3 at below $30K but if you are willing to sacrifice some originality, I am sure you can find one.
I found this last May (2013). I think about it all the time and wish I would have bought it. Hence why I saved the ad and the pictures. I emailed, and got about 30 pictures, some normal wear and tear rock chips and seat bolster wear, but it was CLEAN. 1 owner, guy needed to get rid of it. Just wasnt in the position to buy at the time.

So yes, it is possible to find an E90/E92 M3 with low miles in great condition.

Rare, but possible. Keep searching.

I have been looking for M3 under 35k for 4 months. So far I didn't find a one that is being sold under 35k unless it has really high mileage.

I dont know how everyone seems to say no. You CAN get an M3, but definitely not the one you specified.

A quick cars.com search already shows a bunch from dealerships.

http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...7596/overview/

You are going to be limited to the following though:

08 Models
70-80k mileage

But if you have two cars paid off already and probably using this as a weekend car, I dont see an issue with it.

Someone posted this identical thread not too long ago. A couple examples were posted with clean carfax and less the 75k miles. They are out there, but have to very patient. Make it easier, a couple more grand will get you a good car in low $30k.

Quick search on autotrader found 48 E9x M3's under $35k (75k miles or less).
