Have you checked your mani? Maybe there could be a leak from there? Otherwise there should not have boost problems ! Any charger setup on our cars are mech.

i had a similar issue on a turbo car my buddy used to own. Performed smoke test, leakdowns, etc and couldn't find anything. but like someone already suggested, we found it was a vacuum line kink.

Hope you get it all worked out. can't wait to see what the problem was. how frustrating!

+1 i had some issues with my VT2 kit after my tuner made a couple of errors, unbelievable fustrating, especially as alot of us live no-where near the ESS approved tuners, mines a good 3hr drive, then again, i love making that drive every summer :-)

good look OP and keep us posted.....

got to the dyno and they were having power issues because of crayz rain/wind. power was going in and out. so travis and i pressure tested the car and checked the bypass valve having 1:1 pressure. bypass was OK and the vac to it is good too. we did find a small leak from one of the two Meth fittings under the manifold, slowly letting air out. going to fix that and go back and pressure test again then dyno. leak seems very small but we did not find anything else.... hopefully this is it.

This is unlikely - But is there any chance that the supercharger pulley is spinning/slipping on the compressor shaft? Because wasn't this changed as part of the 625 upgrade?

What color are your injectors? And also, did you use black RTV to seal the fitting on the very back of the manifold?

OP,

We have a BMW senior master tech on staff and are certified by ESS for supercharger installation. We will gladly take a look at it for you if you want to take a ride up to us (Philly is about 2 hours away). Give me a call for more details.

SC pulley has the key in it so its not loose around the shaft. Injectors are blue - proper ones.

Please tell me more about this --> "did you use black RTV to seal the fitting on the very back of the manifold" what fitting? are you referring to the meth line? If so I did not install the meth - it was done by a shop in Jersey.

no - because the car ran flwaless for almost a year and a half. this is one of the early ESS cars.

reading is fundamental - its not for everyone though.

This may be a dumb question, but did you check your belt? I remember my 03 Cobra losing boost because the belt kept slipping...installed a tensioner and problem solved.

EDIT: Bah, nevermind, just re-read your original post where you already checked this...reading comprehension is obvioulsy not one of my strong points.

Good luck with this, I know what a PITA trouble shooting something like this can be. I must have spent about 2 weeks trying to figure out why I wasn't making the right amount of boost when I upgraded my Cobra to a turbo setup...damn frustrating, you just want the damn thing to work.

Im sorry to hear about your issues, its gremlins like these that make me shy away from FI anything. hope you can work it out, if you could maybe swap the supercharger itself?

Don't T off the Bypass/Blow-off valve lines. These should always be solitary lines and putting a T on them can sometimes cause erratic gauge readings and the valve behaving improperly.

One thing I suggest you take a look at, is to remove the charger itself and inspect the compressor and make sure the blades are not damaged and that it isn't bleeding pressure anywhere internally. Sometimes a charger can be damaged, the oil could be coked up inside and making it very difficult for the compressor to rotate.

PM me, I will try and help you get through it!

Im surprised you haven't taken the supercharge apart and checked for any internal issues.

Any update? Have a dyno yet?

I'm dealing with a pretty similarly mysterious set of underperformance issues with my Z4M's VT2-500 (an unfortunately-popular thread in the Z4 section).

yeah we found several issues. few bolts were missing from runner/stacks - may have been result of powdercoater not torquing them properly. fixed the meth fitting into the manifold which was the only thing showed boost slowly leaking in a pressure test. ran the car on dyno it still made 450 whp. also noticed that the blower is seeping SC oil down the SC bracket. going to take the blower off and send it to ESS.
