Tail of the Dragon

Just spent the weekend up in that area. Ran the tail 6 times each way, then did the smokey mtn loop. Beautiful part of the country and the car really shined! I've never run it in another car so I have no basis of comparison, but wow did the car do everything I wanted and then some! The only problem was all the Harley guys and mini vans who won't use the pull offs. That and those roads ruined me for the city driving I have to do the rest of the time.

Was wondering if anyone maybe wanted to organize a meet up there this fall? It'd be awesome to see a bunch of m3's carving it up one after another.

They also take your picture, so it'd be great to see a bunch of us. Here's one of mine:

I've driven there as well, beautiful road with awesome turns and very nice scenery. You should try driving up to Vogel State Park, it has an amazing twisy road that leads up to it. The park itself isn't bad either.

I will check it out! Looks like that's the same 129 that runs up to the tail right? I also hear Caesar's Head up a little north of Vogel is a great road. Can't wait to try them all!

Count me in if you guys decide to go. Vogel State Park is a nice route as well. Have been up and down that thing several times on my bicycle ( Trek Madone ).

I'm up and by Vogel, or blood mountain, about every weekend. Dodging bicycles and motorcycles,,lol.
The tail might be interesting, I've heard it's heavily patrolled, as is blood mountain.

Haven't heard of blood mtn, where is it? We put almost a thousand miles on the car Friday, sat, and Sunday, never had a po po problem. I guess if you go flat out on the straights you might get in trouble but the dragon itself is so tight its pretty hard to speed. Moonshiners highway leading up to it is also a great road and probably easier to get in trouble on.....I can't believe I've lived 2 hours away from these places for 20 years and have never gone before now!

Yeah, I have heard the same thing about The Dragon. Several incidents have taken place on The Dragon. But, if it's something you guys are considering, just send me a pm.

Blood mountain, as I know it and the cabins you pass going over it...
Is between dawsonville and blairsville. Turn right instead of going straight to suches then there is the turner corner cafe where you turn left onto 129 from 19.
A pic

Up in the "mountains" this weekend just drove through, but without the M3, working on a jeep project.

I lived less than a hour from the Tail for many years - I'm up for a return trip.

Word of caution though - fall is prime leaf looker season...roads will be packed with tourists if the colors are in season.
