After the crash I looked behind and people were yelling and screaming." Due to the dense fog, helicopters were unable to evacuate victims for two and a half hours. The accident caused extensive traffic jams.

If you must drive in heavy fog, dip your headlights, fog lights and turn on your rear fog lamp, if you have one. Adjust your speed according to the conditions, you should be able to come to a complete stop within the distance that you can see ahead of you. Gulf News - Dubai. Upon further investigation of a massive 200 car pile-up, a 2004 Hyundai Elantra was found at the epicenter, sideways, with approximately 200 meters of skidmarks behind it, indicating that the vehicle had apparently lost control at a high rate of speed before coming to a stop sideways on the foggy highway. Seconds later, the Elantra was hit by a number of vehicles, and served as the catalyst to the pile-up.

if the crash is hidden in thick fog...vehicle travelling at 70mph means they will only have split seconds to see the cars in front stopped or debries from the crash....or the crash itself.....

I've driven in New Delhi in heavy fog. Driving in India is scary as it is but driving in fog was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. People where actually riding on motorcycles and scooters without taillights and what was even more messed up was the fact drivers were still speeding, tailgating and cutting each other off like it was no big deal.

I've been on that highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It is pretty damn straight and flat. People drive at incredibly high speeds on that road. With foggy conditions I can imagine that it wasn't that hard to get up to 200 cars in the crash.
