How long at the dealer
Just got word that my 2010 M3 is on a truck from South Carolina to my dealer in Fla. Dealer e-mailed and said it will take some time for them to prep her once she arrives. Any experience on how long they take before they let her go?

My experience is don't let them 'prep' her. The shmucks with the dirty rags that wash the cars usually put scratches and swirl marks on a perfectly new car. To answer you question, they do have to go through a checklist but that shouldn't take more than a day.

should take one day, but no more than that.

When my car arrived at the dealer at 10:30am, I showed up at the dealer at 11am to check the car over. I told them don't bother to wash it or even to remove the plastic off the seats, floor liner, interior door protection, etc. I then went to Costco in my trade-in vehicle, returned the items home and then went right back to dealer and picked up my car at 1pm.
Here are some photos of the interior with plastic, etc. still in place when I got home. Didn't realize the photos were so large. |

That is so cool. I wouldn't remove all that "gift wrap" the whole year driving the car will do just that in my next new car

Very smart; that is the way to get the car. No disrespect to the dealerships, but some of their people are low-wage earners who really seem to not care and will scratch your car if they wash it/wipe it down. I have never let a dealership wash one of my cars - ever. Enjoy.

Congrats. Now comes the torturous break-in period where you can not rev past 5500.
