That is the straight cut gears in the dog box transmission.

Unlike a normal gearbox the gear faces have very no angle where they mesh so they are extremly noisy.Dog Box referes to having no syncromesh so the gears are engaged by "dogs" that lock the gears to transmit the power.I read somewhere that they use a hewland gearbox with sequential shifting.

Too bad BMW doesn't make their road cars to be more competitive with the P-cars!!

Manthey Porsche GT3R owns the ring! 4 wins in a row at the Nurburgring 24 Hr race and it took the first 2 wins of the 2010 season at the VLN series at the ring. Hopefully BMW motor-sport can get the M3 GT2 up to speed on the ring and stop the P car domination?
