Deposit down - the wait begins...

Hi all,

Put the deposit down on a new e92 M3 yesterday ! Nothing in stock in Australia so the wait begins for delivery. Dealer has told me it will be a Jan 2012 Build to be delivered in Feb. Only good thing about this is with interest rates going down the repayments should be less!

Details:
Space Grey / Black / Carbon Leather Structure
MDCT
Competition Pack
Plus all the normal Australian standard features that seem to be options for other countries by reading the threads here.

Special thanks to Martin at BMW Sylvania in Sydney who worked with me for 7 weeks on the deal. If you are looking for a new BMW speak to this guy - Stay away from BMW Sydney, they do not seem to understand the word negotiation.

Now I just need to work out how to change my username...

Congrats!

The wait really sucks - ordered my '12 at the end of July, it went into prod at the beginning of Sep, arrived at the VPC in the US on Oct 5th, and has been held hostage there since then because of emissions certification paperwork! However, it sounds like the paperwork has been filed and the car is finally going to be released within the next ~week

Congrtulations! Sleepless nights will ensue

Just some warnings:
-You probably won't get much work done or sleep since you'll have the M3Post addiction
-Browsing the forum you'll be getting the modding bug, if you haven't already
-Your wallet will shed a few pounds in the coming weeks and months

What do you work on for 7 weeks? I exchanged 3 emails in a total time of 5 minutes spent to make a "deal" what do you discuss for 7 weeks? Hopefully for that amount of time you got the car for free!

I hope those 7 weeks are tax deductible. That's a long negotiation period...

Congrats

I feel for you. I put my deposit down the last week of July. I should be taking delivery next week or the next (almost exactly 4 months since I ordered it).

Thanks guys!

The long negotiation was trying to get more discount from BMW Australia / BMW Finance due to the negative equity in my 335. They eventually came to the party and got down to the monthly payments I was happy with. In the end it was a combination of discounted payout figure for the 335, lower interest rate on the finance, discount from BMW Aust. and a little tip in from me.

Just had a phone call from the dealer too - a car close to my spec has come up on his system and will arrive in a week. My issue is that it will be a 2011 build - I would prefer to have a 2012 car - what do you guys think? I know that the model year changed in September to 2012, but most people in Australia wouldn't understand the difference and I am concerned from a re-sale point of view...

Already picked out some black kidneys and Lux LED bulbs for the AE's - I don't think it will stop there though!

The wait has been cut short... I pick up the car on Saturday!

I decided to go for the car that was on its way. The only difference is the trim, it currently has the aluminium trim so I have asked for it to be swapped with the BMW Performance Carbon Fibre trim costing me $3500 - they say RRP for it is $7000. Also have to take the car back in 2 weeks for it to be fitted as it needs to be ordered from Germany.

Will post up some photos on the weekend after I take it for a spin down the south coast of Sydney.

Not many! From the look of other threads it seems to be the main piece for the dash, each front door, rear seat trim and rear center console around the air vents.
