Note - M3's come with about a 4 micron layering of clear coat.. Each 3 stage polish will remove about 1.25/1.50 microns, so if you want to lose that after owning it for just a week, then go for it but many would advise against it.
Is that even true? So after 4 polishs you have no more clear cloat? Doesn't seem right to me

A 3 stage polish is much more aggressive on the clear coat than just your standard polish/wax. How else do you expect to get the swirls out

Sorry this is total bull. I owned a JB car for 5 years and must have polished it 2 times a year easily with a two stage process. A medium intensive and finishing each time. 2 times were with a yellow aggressive foam and very aggressive to get some bad swirls out. Paint had perfect clear coat until the day I sold it and ended up measuring the clear coat the year I sold it and still had 4 microns! So no way in hell it starts of with 4. You are wasting your time waiting 1.5 years for nothing. I two staged my new m3 this year and it looks perfect

I wish I could find you and break your head. You are the most obtrusive person I've ever seen on a forum. You come on here and criticize every single post made by every single member, what's wrong? Wife's not giving you enough sex or something? Do you even own an M3, I wish I could just remove your feeble existence. You know absolutely NOTHING, you just come and try to respond to things you have no idea about. Not ALL cars come with 4 micron layers of clear coat, I was talking about the M3 in this case, who knows what JB car you owned for 5 years that still had all its clear coat remaining after that long, even if you never 3 stage polished a car for 5 years it's still gonna lose layers of clear coat you FUMB DUCK.

They were pushing the Frozen on me, but I don't enjoy the DCT. I started out driving an 08 White/Grey 6MT there, but as soon as I saw chips on the hood, I knew I could never buy one used. Ha. I need a winter setup, but need to look for a used one. I drive about 5k miles a year total and don't want to blow a ton on a winter setup. Plus I have a 99 Tahoe 2 door Sport to tool around in. Let me know if you know of any used winter setups on decent rims, no tire rack rims for me, ha.

None planned yet. Going to watch for a used exhaust over the winter with low miles on it. We shall see where it goes from there...

You are giving bad information to people and encourging them not to do regular polishes (couple times a year). I encourage anyone to get a micron meter and see for yourselves that 4microns is total BS. Also for someone you want to ignore you sure post a lot of responses to me. You sought out my thread on edition mods and then posted-sounds like your really "avoiding" me!

Who discouraged anyone to NOT to do a couple of POLISHES a year? I told the OP not to have a 3 stage polish done because it DOES remove layers of clear coat. You're just sitting there thinking you know everything, a 3 stage polish will remove ALL swirls, how do you think this is accomplished? By working into the clear coat and paint thus removing minimal layers. I just got my car polished a couple weeks ago, I do it twice a year, it's completely different from a 3 stage it doesn't remove swirls FYI. Go read a book.
