Exclamation Audi RS5 engine update.

From a very good source who has confirmed many things way before it's official, I have learned the new RS5's engine WONT be a V10.

That leaves 3 possible options I think:

1) RS4 engine
2) tuned RS4 engine
3) V8TT based on the new V10TT

I'll keep you guys updated if I hear anything else.

So which do you believe it will be, given the choices now?

My money is on a re-worked RS4 but this time with DSG 7speed, that on it's own with improve the RS4's acceleration times by as much as 1.5~2s at the 150mph mark.

In any case a v10, though great in idea would be much to heavy and would negate the effort made to improve the handling from the new chassis.

yea. . . those Audi's are already WAY too heavy as it is. . . let alone with V-10's inside them.

My bet's on a tuned RS4 engine. Most likely up the size and increase the revs.

well, all 3 options still remain very possible. There's no reason why Audi wouldnt go for either of them. I just learned that Audi have tried out a few engines in the RS5, RS6 and R8.

Think of the improvement from the S5's V8 to the RS4's high revving 420bhp engine. Imagine that engine tuned. Or imagine Audi chopping 2 cylinders of it's new V10TT.

Looking at Audi's direction with the RS6, TT-S, R8, R8 V12 etc, I'm more than confident they will produce the goods when it comes to the RS5!
