Difference between 08 and 09

What changes are there from the m3 coupe from 08 to 09? Only thing I notice is that the 09 have more buttons by the knob on the center console.

Mostly idrive related changes...the 09 model year has a hard drive based system for Navigation and music...its significantly faster and probably worth a small premium over an 08 model year all else being equal.

With that said, is it better to get a 09 instead of 08 for the price difference?

Your warranty and maintenance will last longer on the 09. It depends on the price difference.

Don't forget active headrests in the front seats so an '09 should be safer, literally.

non-iDrive cars also get a different center console cubby I believe. I'd be interested in that part number, it looks more roomy and cell-phone friendly than the one in my '08.

All '09+ cars have a different console cubby. The '08 had a round cupholder. The newer ones have a squared off and larger cubby hole. The '08 also has a vent that moves cold or hot air through. I don't think the '09+ cars have this.

The '08 is good if you put a cup in there, but who does that? The newer style seems to be much more versatile.

Another difference is that in '08 non-iDrive cars were able to get extended leather. This is not true on later years.

Cheers.

I never cared for the cup holder in our center console.
