Oil cap leaking? Valve covers leaking? these all are areas that seem to leak on this car. Check them. The oil is going somewhere.

Other than that is the car mechanically sound?

I switched to thinner oil and am burning through more oil as well. I think it's probably to be expected. My engine is built though.

And when I say burning, I mean my car is very smokey under acceleration, but it's mostly grey smoke (fuel) although at lights I occasionally smell oil.

My valve cover may be leaking, there is burned oil on my engine when I open the hood, but otherwise the car pulls like it should, mechanically sound as far as I know, last oil analysis done 10k miles ago was clean. I'll be taking her to the mechanic soon, I'll have them look everything over.

Taking the car to the mechanic this week, still burning oil, has anyone come up with a solution? I'll have updates after the car has been looked at.

The only time my first 3 e92's burned oil were on sustained highway trips, never around town. My current one hasn't burned a drop in 8 months. 3 out of my 4 behaved the same way.

According to NMW the engine is suppose to burn 1.2 litres of oil every 1000 kms. If you're not burning then is there a problem, and also, if you are burning a lot more, is there a problem. Someone like Kawasaki can chip in with some thoughts.

BMW threshold is a liter every 1k IIRC. Or maybe 1500 miles. Pretty sure it's liter every 1k, but even that's high IMO.
The threshold is 1 litre every 1K KM or 600 miles.

Same here.

My car only burns oil on the highway at an estimated rate of 0.5l per 1,000km.

I have found the car to not burn any oil in city driving.

This engine doesn't like constant low revs that is for sure, there's clearly a lot of slack in those piston rings at those engine speeds.

My 2008 E92 M3 doesn't consume a drop in 15,000km.

My 2013 E92 M3 ZCP "+1L warning" pops up every 7000km.

I think this is true. Every time after a long highway drive I've notices the oil level drop on the instrument cluster. I was told that the rings have a lot more slack than the series ones.
