Just made it back from my epic trek to VIR and back. Drove the tail of the dragon on the way there, actually made the wife drive it, and many side roads there and back and have to say I love this car even more now The roads through the smoky mountains were awesome and VIR is an unbelievable track and can't wait to go back. Managed to meet my goal of breaking 2:20 on the full course (2:18.16) and had 2 other laps in the 2:18's, but felt 2:15's were in me if I had an extra day and my BBK. Had to switch back to my OEM brakes (thank you Ilia and IND for making that happen) and never trusted my brakes out there and was consistently turning in early to scrub even more speed Was dropping my times as I became familiar (big track) with all the idiosyncrasies of this track and there are a ton. Have a ton of pics and vids which will have to wait to next week, but thanks to Von zoom his son and Martin D for making it a great experience and for Doc showing me the "line" out there... Still have much to learn. 2k miles and 50 laps later I am spent and and in total bliss, best car ever

Your M3 definitely looked and sounded the part... fast and mean! We watched you tear it up the climbing esses and down the back straight after oak tree. Looking forward to your vids.

Thanks dude! Seemed like there was no time to socialize, but felt the classroom sessions actually helped. Car looked great and will see if I can drum up some footage of ya

Awesome, glad you had a good time. Can't wait to see the pictures and videos. What was your speed going up the back straight? I want to compare it to mine since I don't have a tune but we have the same exhaust. I got mine up to 143mph I think.

That sounds about right for me too. Unless it is cool or cold (temperature) I doubt you will do much better. That is as fast(er) as I want to go, so I rarely push it that hard.

Only looked down twice and saw 147 at least once and stayed on it till it touched 150 the second time. If I actually had confidence in my brakes could have gone a bit farther I think. The uphill esses tried to go into around 115-120, but know I could have gone a bunch faster with more seat time. Was an absolutely awesome track!!

I've seen v=150 indicated at VIR. I don't think that is accurate though, I'd guess the GPS speed would be several mph lower. I'll get some GPS data from Rezoom Sep. 21.

Agreed, am under no illusion that it was my actual speed, just what was indicated as I looked down. Considering speedo error, 143 may be as fast as you can actually go. Need to start using GPS...

Just checked the Trackmaster data for Sunday session 3 and the top speed for that session was 144.11 mph (lap 2). Too bad I don't have data for session 4 since that was where the fastest lap of my weekend came from.

Now, if you coded the car to show actual v= then theoretically it would be very accurate since I think it also pulls the data from the car's GPS. I could be just talking out of my ass. Mine is coded and there is a huge difference between the car's speedo and what it shows on v=. BMW speedos are very optimistic to say the least.

That's plenty fast. Like to think with a 5% correction that 150 indicated is around 142-ish so still have room to grow

Spent 3 days getting there, 2 days on track and two days back. Left Wednesday night, got there Friday afternoon, started the drive back on Sunday after the track (wife drove that leg) made it home Monday by 7:00. Loved it
